E-News - March 2019
Thank you for your generosity, your patience, your wisdom, and especially for your prayers as our Envision project continues. In just two years, you have given more than a half million dollars to help us reach future generations for Christ. Soon we will be able to dedicate new areas where children and youth can learn about Jesus, and a new welcome facility to greet our guests as they come to hear about the Savior. It’s a great day to be at NHBC!
This month on Sunday, March 31, at 4:30 PM, in the Fellowship Hall our welcome ministry is hosting a training session for all door greeters and ushers, as well as those who will be helping at our new Welcome Desk and Coffee Cafe. Everyone who is involved in our welcome ministry or would like to know more about how to be involved is invited.
I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through you!

SUNDAY, MARCH 10
WOMEN ON MISSION TO STUDY NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONS
On Tuesday, March 12, Women on Mission will meet in the fellowship hall beginning at 9:30 with the business session led by Judy Divine and Doris Whitcher, co-presidents. At 10:15 the group will be treated with a snack/coffee/share time provided by hostesses, Mildred Burns and Oma Dickenson. this is an enjoyable time of sharing and visiting together. Come and join us.

The program will begin at 10:45 with Ruth Scott leading the study of current information about the needs of North American Missions . The theme of the study this year is "Sending Hope". The nation-wide goal is $70 million. Our goal for National Heights Church is $6,000 . We encourage all our people to give careful consideration to their own gifts to help reach this goal. It is an amount that will be used to lead many to know our Lord. All of this money goes to train, resource, and send more than 5,000 missionaries in church planting and compassion ministries throughout the United States and Canada. This offering was begun in 1895 by Woman's Missionary Union in order to benefit the work of the Home Mission Board, since renamed the North American Mission Board. Since its begining in 1895, over 1 billion dollars has been given for these ministries. We will take a closer look at several of our missionaries during the morning program. The Scripture empasis will be, "He has given us an new birth with a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." . . . 1 Peter 1:3
Stepping Out Testimonies
Many of our membership are “stepping out” into the community. This focus each month will allow you to hear from them, know how you can pray for that outreach and perhaps be inspired to join in as well.

I had the joy of helping out at the Primrose Ronald McDonald House for about four months. I took great joy in cleaning the common areas and picking up litter so everyone could have a pleasant experience during their stay. There were opportunities to visit some with the families when they came in for a meal or to relax in the TV room or watch their children in the playroom having fun. Some parents just want to talk to another adult that’s not a doctor or nurse for a change. You can find joy in helping others. Even in cleaning a commode. I did!

Searching for “joy” in helping others? You can work weekly, biweekly, or monthly, in a variety of tasks depending on their need and your availability. Try volunteering at one of Springfield’s Ronald McDonald Houses soon, you will be blessed?

Women on Mission will gather on Tuesday, March 26, at 9:30 in the fellowship hall. The meeting opens with a time of business. At 10:15 is scheduled a snack/coffee/chat time with Doris Whitcher and Eva McNeely in charge.

At about 10:45, Joel Childrers, pastor of Glidewell Baptist Church , will speak for us. He is associated with Cross Ministries International , which in the last several years has been responsible for spreading the gospel to several countries across central Africa; namely, Ghana, Benin, Uganda and Kenya. He has recently returned from a mission trip to train national pastors in these countries, so he has a lot of recent information to share. Both men and women of the church are invited to hear his presentation. Do come. The meeting concludes about 11:45.

SMACK is coming to NHBC!
“What is SMACK?” you may ask. Well, it stands for Summer Music Activity Camp for Kids and it is BEYOND fun! You won’t want to miss out. This summer, during the week of June 2-9, our kids are going to have a chance to be a part of a week like no other. We are going to fill the church halls with singing and chanting that will praise our Savior, AND we’ll have fun activities like “Organized Mass Chaos” and “the Great Mega Relay”. At the end of the week, the kids will put on a musical presentation for the church, their parents, and the community to come and watch.
This will be for Pre-K thru 6th grade.  We’ll also need tons of volunteers to make this week a success! We’ll have a kick-off and planning meeting on Sunday, March 24th at 4:30pm . If you’d like to help as a volunteer, please see Joshua.
