In this March edition of New in the Blue , we celebrate the importance of music education in our schools, recognize a new student representative on our Board of Directors, and thank community volunteers for helping our students have the nutrients and energy they need to learn.

We shined a spotlight on the importance of music education in our schools and many students performed at strand concerts throughout the month.

Cedar Valley Teacher Joins Scholastic's Advisory Board
First-grade teacher Kelsey Anderson was chosen as one of 16 teachers from across the nation to work with Scholastic to support student reading growth and accessibility .
Staff Learn About Importance of Diversity in Our Classrooms
Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. spoke at Kent-Meridian in partnership with the Kent Community Network Council to provide academic coaching and mentoring.
RECOGNIZING OUR COMMUNITY
Covington Family Expo April 4
This free event, from 4-7 p.m., is a great opportunity for families to find local resources and services available to them . There will also be face painting, drawings for prizes, and photos with the Snow Queen!

Please use an abundance of caution and look out for our students in school zones to help keep them safe!

Juniors, seniors, and their families are invited to join us on March 30 to explore ways to pay for college and prepare for post-graduate success. We are providing free transportation.

Help Us Prepare For New State Graduation Requirements
We are seeking 20-30 volunteers to join our new Core 24 Committee, who are willing to dedicate approximately 10 hours a month (including in-person meetings and pre-reading) to the work of helping determine our strategy for helping students achieve the Career- and College-Ready Graduation Requirements? Complete a brief questionnaire by April 12 .
