For the month of March, we will focus on memory and materiality with Lyuba Basin, Rare Books Curator at the J. Willard Marriott Library. Lyuba will pose (and attempt to answer) one of the most existential questions: How did I get here? Her journey traverses book fairs and lunches in school libraries before segueing into the world of higher education – and a vault filled with more than 90,000 rare books! Along the way, several authors and titles kept Lyuba company, but a select few changed the trajectory of her path and altered her perceptions on what we read, why we read, and how we read. Join us for a philosophical study of the book as a physical object. |
