Program Performance Report
The #1 question we receive through our Rapid Response system is “When is the PPR due?” and our #1 answer is “we do not have a firm due date at this time” and will keep you informed as additional information becomes available.
Another popular question is “will we be able to submit 2017 and 2018 in one report?”. As you know, the DD Act indicates the Council shall annually prepare and submit a report. So, “no” each report must reflect the federal fiscal year that is tied to the annual work plan within the 5-Year plan.
In the meantime, at a minimum, we highly recommend Council staff develop the narratives for all objectives that were active during the 2017 reporting period (activities beginning October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2017). We released the new
PPR Guidance Document last week, so please check out information on all the reporting sections. As always, please let us know if you need additional information or assistance.
State Plan Update
This is also a popular question! The same answer applies, and we will keep you informed with all additional information.

Membership
We are pleased to provide a
TA Brief on DD Council Membership – General Information. Many Council’s review their membership during the Spring and we trust this resource will be helpful to ensure you maintain compliance with the DD Act. If your Council needs technical assistance and/or support, please do not hesitate to contact us. For example, recently, we assisted a Council with a review on membership and provided a compliance analysis. We also answer several questions each month dealing with composition, eligibility, and term limits. Please let us know how we can assist.

DD Council List Serves ~ A Great Resource

Have you been wondering how to post information, requests for information or comments to the NACDD list-serve system? It is very easy – here’s how you do it!
1)
Start an email with the address of the list you are desiring to submit a post

Please note: You must be a member of the list in order to submit and receive posts.
2)
Click on send and your message will be posted to the selected list.
Helpful hints and etiquette
- Be sure to include a descriptive subject line. E-mails received with no subject line may likely be perceived as spam by an email filter and be deleted before reaching the recipient's inbox.
- Responses to many list serve list questions and discussion topics are of interest to the entire list. In these cases, it is appropriate to reply to the list serve list address.
- Personal replies should be directed to specific individuals rather than to the entire list.
- Remember to cut and paste the sender’s e-mail address when replying rather than simply hitting the “Reply” button which sends the response to the entire list. Below are some examples of replies sent to an entire list in the past,
- 'Thanks.'
- 'Thanks. Hope you are well. All the best.'
- 'Yes.' or 'No, unfortunately.' (Both were sent in response to a reply also sent to the list as to whether an individual had specific information.)
- 'I would also.' (Sent as response to whether additional info was desired)
- 'I would like more information. Could you e-mail me directly?'
- 'Thanks, this will be very helpful.'
- 'Welcome!' (Response to someone introducing themselves as a new subscriber.)
List information
All NACDD list-serves are available to DD Councils. Below is a description of each list:
- NACDD –The list is designed to facilitate general DD Council information, queries, and comments.
- ITACC - The list is designed to facilitate communication on Technical Assistance related topics.
- Civic Engagement –Members of the list are actively engaged as a Community of Practice working on civic engagement initiatives.
- Public Policy –The list is designed to share public policy related information.
- Execs –List membership is restricted to DD Council personnel occupying the position of Executive Director. The list is designed to facilitate communication and networking between Executive Directors.
- Minimum Allotment—Members of this list are those that receive the minimum allotment from the federal appropriations. It is designed to facilitate communication between Executive Directors in those States and Territories.

Have you ever wondered if a topic has ever been addressed on an NACDD list serve? Here’s how to check the list serve archives for information before you post a new request for information. List serve posts are captured by year, beginning with 2014.
Click on the link to the archive list you want to view. There is a search feature for the archives, simply type in the topic (you may want to perform multiple searches).

DD Council Highlight ~ Virginia Board for People with Disabilities
|

Growing and Maintaining Youth Leadership
|
The VA Board supports training for youth and adults and utilizes strategies to keep participants engaged and connected.
The
Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) is a four-day intensive learning seminar for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. YLA Delegates learn directly from peer mentors and successful adult role models while they work on their own personal leadership plans, improve their communications skills, visit the state capitol, and have a chance to speak directly to state legislators and policymakers. This summer, the YLA will be held on the campus of Virginia State University.
The VA Board takes training a step further with the Training Alumni Association. The TAA encompasses graduates of both Parnters In Policymaking and YLA. It is designed to further engage training program alumni with one another, the Board, and other disability organizations to build ground-level capacity for systems change advocacy. Alumni are affiliated with regional chapters and have a defined organizational structure with leadership roles.
