Community Enhancement Fund: Apply for Grants
Grant applications for the Community Enhancement Fund (CEF) are open through March 15, 2018 at 5 PM if you are considering submitting an application.
Grant applications that include a proposal operating on a K-12 school site must request the endorsement of the school's superintendent, and must be submitted to the school district representative with the draft grant proposal no later than March 8, 2018.
The City anticipates awarding approximately $1,728,000 in community grants in Fiscal Year 2018/2019. The actual budget may vary based on final approved funding allocations.
Community Grant Types:
- $952,000, for arts, culture, history, entertainment, and sports
- $300,000, for other projects
10th Annual Community PRIDE Scholarship Has Returned
City of Rancho Cordova employees are committed to both promoting involvement in our community and providing opportunities for our youth to continue to explore higher levels of education. The Community PRIDE Scholarship was developed by City employees to award a $500 scholarship to a 2018 graduating senior living within the Rancho Cordova City boundaries who demonstrates pride in their community, volunteering efforts, and their ambition to succeed.
Interested applicants have until April 6, 2018 to apply for consideration.

Volunteers needed - Aerojet Rocketdyne FCUSD STEM Expo
Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) and Aerojet Rocketdyne are holding a STEM Expo on March 7 and a "Dinner with a Scientist" event on March 22 at Cordova High School. Volunteers in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) field are needed to judge STEM projects and mentor students at the dinner. Interested in volunteering? Go here.
Mills Middle student going to nationals in essay contest
Sophia Trujillo, a 7th grader at Mills Middle School, was recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) California Department for winning first place in the 2017-2018 Patriot's Pen Essay contest. Out of 1,700 entries, Sophia's essay won based on the theme, "America's Gift to my Generation." Her essay has been entered in the VFW's national competition, where she will compete with other students across the nation for a $5,000 scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C.
Still time to enroll at Folsom Lake College's Rancho Cordova Center
It's not too late to enroll at Folsom Lake College this spring! There are open "fast-track" classes that start later in the semester.
Second 8-week term classes start the week of March 13-19, and are offered at Folsom Lake College/Rancho Cordova Center, as well as other locations and online. For more information, please contact the Rancho Cordova Center at (916) 361-6321.

2018 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project
As part of the City's continuous infrastructure improvement, the sidewalks in front of 38 homes and one business will be replaced. The project will improve pedestrian safety and enhance accessibility for residents in Rancho Cordova neighborhoods. The project will be completed by late March, weather permitting.
Volunteers Needed for Creek Week 2018
Creek Week is an annual celebration of local creeks in the Sacramento region organized by the Sacramento Area Creeks Council. Learn about the importance of reducing pollution in waterways and preserving the habitat creeks provide for plants and animals.
This year, on Saturday, April 14, the City of Rancho Cordova is hosting four clean-up events at various creek locations and a nature walk at Cordova Creek. Volunteers are needed on April 14 to remove trash and debris from our local waterways. Learn more
Sign up to Volunteer for Rebuilding Together
Spring Rebuild Day in Rancho Cordova is April 20-21, and Rebuilding Together Sacramento is now looking for volunteers interested in changing the lives of families through home improvements and beautification. Volunteers will be improving approximately 15 homes. Even if you aren't a professional handy-person, there are several ways that you can help!

Voting is Changing in Sacramento County
Beginning with the June 2018 Primary Election, Sacramento County will be one of five
counties in California to implement the Voter's Choice Act. All registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail, and Vote Centers will be offered in place of traditional polling places. Vote Centers will be located throughout Sacramento County and open to all voters, offering voters more flexibility and additional opportunities to participate in the election process.
What does this mean for you? You choose when, where, and how to vote!
All registered voters will be mailed a ballot.
