"No matter how long the Winter,
Spring is sure to follow."
-proverb
March 2021 brought about a somber anniversary. One year into this pandemic and we mourn those we have lost and we reflect on the many challenges and changes we have all faced. We can also see, and feel, a shift towards Spring. Not only in the calendar, the weather, and the longer days, but in the sense that we are approaching brighter days.

Spring has indeed begun its initial approach, and we are all waiting with eager, yet tentative, open arms. So far it has brought a few warm days and the reminder of sunshine. It has also brought the hope of the vaccine, some Leprechaun shenanigans, and excitement about our upcoming 45th Anniversary.

We are also the grateful recipient of a grant that will help us continue to stay safe and healthy and we are happy to welcome a new staff member and to share some of the other fun things we have been up to.

Thank you all for your support during this year of tumultuous up and downs, and for helping us to find the joy in each day.
Circle Center Vaccination Update!

We rolled up our sleeves and we got our "I got my vaccine" stickers! Many of our staff have recently received their second dose of the COVID -19 Vaccine! We are so appreciative that this will help us continue to stay healthy and best able to serve our participants and families!

We are also thrilled to report that we have completed our first on-site vaccine clinic for participants and caregivers! We were able to vaccinate 45 people at our first vaccine clinic for our participants and caregivers who qualified (at vaccine time were still in phase 1b including health care workers and adults 65+). We will be hosting an additional on-site clinic for second doses in April!

A big thank you to Bremo Pharmacy for coordinating the vaccine efforts and setting up an on-site vaccine clinic for our participants and caregivers at the Center! They did an amazing job!

Staying Safe and Healthy
We recently were the recipients of a grant that will help us continue our efforts to make our Center as safe and healthy as possible, not just during this pandemic, but for the future!

With help from Henrico County’s CARES Act CDBG funds, we were able to purchase 8 portable disinfecting air purifiers! The purifiers will send out oxidizers to the source of contaminants and pollution, continuously cleaning the air and surfaces. This equipment will bring much relief and confidence in the Center’s ability to continue to keep our older adults and staff safe. We hope these air purifiers offer an additional peace of mind to caregivers, who know their loved one is in a safe environment where they are still able to enjoy socialization and activities that continue to meet their needs. These funds also supported the purchase of a new dishwasher and steam cart table for our kitchen!
Shamrocks, shenanigans and treats!
The Circle Center Crew, always happy for a reason to dress up and have fun, certainly avoided any pinches from the Leprechaun this year. Staff and participants got in on the going green fun!

We had special St. Patrick's day treats to celebrate! Starting with a special delivery from a cheeky Leprechaun of green donuts to kick-off the day for staff!

Our friends from Spring Arbor delivered special St. Patrick's Day treat bags for our participants full of goodies, and each affixed with a special Irish blessing!

Members of Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Delta Zeta chapter, not only collected and delivered holiday themed prizes for special St. Patrick's Day Bingo, they also made some special goodie bags for our participants!

Welcome Ameia!
Ameia Bacon recently joined our team as our newest CNA and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.

Mobile Clinic
Once a year the mobile repair team from Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services sets up on-site here at Circle Center to make repairs on any wheelchairs, walkers or other mobility aids.

They visited recently and we were able to invite Circle Center families to bring their own mobility aids to be repaired alongside our own walkers and wheelchairs that we keep here on hand to use.

Spring Flowers
Our friends from Hospice of Virginia gifted us this beautiful potted tulip that adds a perfect pop of color and feelings of springtime!

Celebrating 45 Years!
We have so many fun and exciting plans for our 45th that we can hardly wait to tell you! We hope you have saved the date May 17th - 21st, and will stay tuned to see all the fun...but until then we can at least reveal that we just *might* have a surprise new look to share with you.

We can also share with you our theme. It was the first thing that came to mind when we were discussing how we wanted to celebrate our 45 year history. So, especially after this challenging year, we are so happy to share with you that we will be...

Celebrating 45 Years of CONNECTIONS!

Our auction committee is busy planning all sorts of virtual events for our weeklong celebration, including an auction, virtual BINGO, and a call for you to share your own story of connecting!

How Can you Help?

We have a few levels of sponsorships available to offer companies, organizations or individuals seeking meaningful ways to engage with our center and our community. We are also seeking items to include in our curated auction collection. Please contact Heather Pollard to learn more about these opportunities: 804.355.5717 x 203; [email protected]

The Circle Center Scene!

Puzzles and art projects to celebrate Women's History Month kept us busy, while birthdays and spring days gave us good reason to dress up and celebrate!
