Dear GPBA Community,
Spring brings new opportunities for growth, connection, and collective breath. We’re excited to share this month’s events, resources, and ways to contribute to the GPBA community.
Universal Breathing Declaration Global Launch
A personal invitation to our GPBA community
We are breathing with joy and love to share the news that the Universal Breathing Declaration that was birthed through GPBA Co-Director Jessica Dibb’s book, Breathwork and Psychotherapy: Clinical Applications for Healing and Transformation, is now going to be open globally for all Breathers to sign onto.
The founder of Breathwork Africa and GPBA Advisory Board Member, Dr. Ela Manga shared about the Universal Breathing Declaration:
“I really appreciate the incredible Universal Breathing Declaration. I think every single Breathwork school should include it as part of their training. I really feel strongly about that.”
The unique inspiring website is complete!
We would be thrilled for our GPBA community members to be amongst the first to sign the declaration when it goes live on March 22nd. So you are invited to the launch event!

Honesty and Guidance as a Breathworker
Featured Video: Honesty and Guidance as a Breathworker
with Jim Morningstar, Ph.D., Co-Director, Global Professional Breathwork Alliance
Click to watch on YouTube
In this month’s featured video, Jim Morningstar, Ph.D. explores the essential role of honesty and openness in breathwork practice. Jim shares how true right relationship with clients begins with being honest with ourselves—acknowledging our own fears, judgments, and humanity. He discusses the importance of authenticity and presence, and how being willing to admit what’s really happening inside allows us to better serve others. Jim also invites breathworkers to remain open to guidance—both from within and from supportive “guides”—reminding us that every client offers an opportunity for growth, learning, and deeper connection. Through honesty, humility, and receptivity, we strengthen our capacity to support both ourselves and those we serve.
Community News & Member Contributions
Participate in Breathwork Research
As a certified member of the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, Sascha Zeilinger (Spirit of Breath Collective) is collaborating with Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and University of Potsdam, in partnership with the Berlin Breathwork Council, on a research project to advance professionalism, safety, and scientific integrity in breathwork.
The team is conducting an anonymous online survey (20–25 minutes) on the experienced effects of breathwork involving accelerated and intensified breathing—including well-being, emotional processes, and bodily sensations. The study was developed with facilitators to ensure both scientific rigor and practical relevance.
Your participation can help build a stronger evidence base for breathwork safety, informed consent, and therapeutic potential. Broad international participation will strengthen the quality and impact of the research.
Participants can complete the survey within seven days after a session (recommended: 2–3 days post-session). A summary of findings will be made available to interested facilitators.

We’re excited to announce that GPBA will soon be launching a new member resource page—a space to share wisdom, stories, and practical tools from breathwork practitioners around the world.
