Greetings!
Hopefully all are starting to enjoy the coming of spring with the growing sunlight and warmth. I wanted to share with the community the mission of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce as their might be some confusion or misconceptions.
The Glen Ellyn Chamber is a non-profit organization who is not funded by taxes, but from dues from our members and special events. The Chamber's Mission statement is to foster and promote the business and professional interests of Glen Ellyn and the adjoining areas, and to promote the welfare of the Glen Ellyn Community.
The Chamber strives to promote the economic development of our membership through advocacy, education, networking, marketing and showcasing members in special events. We enhance the lifestyle of our community through events such as the Tree Lighting Holiday Walk, Halloween Festival and collaborating with other civic groups, all while raising awareness to our Non-Profits who help us in so many ways. We are an independent advocate to the business community and work to promote shopping local.
Glen Ellyn Chamber Members support the village as a whole through their membership investment. Please support our community by choosing to use Glen Ellyn Chamber Members. For a full list of Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce Members

Grand Opening: Glen Ellyn Civic Center Jail Exhibit at the History Center
The GEHS will host the grand opening of a new exhibit on the “old” Glen Ellyn jail. Originally located in the Civic Center, the jail was closed after decades of use when the new Glen Ellyn Police Department building was opened in 2017. Part of the original jail at the Civic Center has been reconstructed at the Historical Society, including cell doors, a bunk, toilet, and the wooden bench in the holding area.. The Police Department will have police vehicles on site. There will be activities for kids. And bring your cameras, because there will be a great photo opportunity in the old jail cell.

New Alerting Tool Offers Residents opportunity to Receive Critical Emergency Information
The Village of Glen Ellyn has launched a new notification tool to alert citizens about emergencies. The new notification system has replaced the previous Glen Ellyn alerting system facilitated through Everbridge. This new tool continues to allow the Village to deliver essential information quickly in a variety of situations including severe weather alerts, emergency police notifications and emergency utility notifications.
"What is significant about the new alerting tool is that the Village has the ability to communicate potential threats as fast as possible and allow as much time for residents to prepare for potential danger," said Glen Ellyn Village Manager Mark Franz. "However, the key to success is dependent upon Glen Ellyn residents subscribing to the new alerting system. We hope that residents understand the importance of this communication tool."
All users have the ability to customize their notification preferences after signing up on the
Village's website
at
www.glenellyn.org/alert
.
Emergency notifications and updates can be sent out via email and/or text messages through the new system. Additionally, each notification will be highly visible at the top of each Village webpage in the event of an emergency.
With the implementation of this new alerting tool, subscribers to Glen Ellyn's previous emergency alerting system will need to resubscribe to the new system in order to continue receiving notifications.

Census 2020: Protect Yourself from Potential Fraud
|
|
Protect Yourself from Potential Fraud
If you have already received mail or a home visit from someone claiming to be the Census Bureau, it may be a phishing scam. The Census Bureau will not send unsolicited emails and will never ask for your social security number, bank account information, money or donation. If visited at home by a Census Bureau representative, you can ask to see their ID badge, which displays their picture and US Department of Commerce watermark. You can also contact the US Census Bureau to verify a census worker's identity or report suspected fraud at 800-923-8282. For additional information on protecting yourself from possible fraud or scams associated with the 2020 US Census, please visit the 2020 Census at
https://www.2020census.gov/en/avoiding-fraud.html
Additionally, please contact the Glen Ellyn Police Department by dialing 9-1-1 if you feel that you have been a victim of a phishing scam or visited by an individual who has falsely represented themselves as a Census representative.
