Functional Threshold Power Testing
Ride with Power and Know Thyself

The FTP power test measures a user‘s ‘best effort’ baseline fitness level. This measurement allows the ICG spin bike computer to establish your personal
5 colored training zones.

What is  FTP?..... FTP is short for Functional Threshold Power. It is the threshold from functional exercise that you can maintain, to the non-functional red zone exercise that you can sustain for a relatively short period. The functional power threshold is between the top of the yellow (zone 4) and the bottom of the red zone (zone 5) in relation to the color zones on our new ICG spin bikes

FTP TESTING WITHIN SCHEDULED SPIN CLASSES
Wednesday, March 6th, 9:15am: Spin w/ Jennifer
Thursday, March 7th, 5:45am: Spin w/ Lauren
Thursday, March 7th, 6:15pm: Spin w/ Jennifer
Saturday, March 9th, 10:30am: Spin w/ Jennifer

FTP SPECIFIC TESTING
Tuesday, March 12th, 10:15 - 10:45am w/ Ann
Friday, March 15th, 10:00 - 10:30am w/ Jennife r

Please be aware that this workout will be an all-out challenge. Do not do a very hard workout the day before, get a good night's sleep, and properly fuel up the day of testing.

The test: You will be warming up for 15-20 minutes, riding through a range of RPM's in zones 1-4, followed by the 5-minute Power Test. For 5 minutes you'll be riding with a high resistance, while maintaining a minimum of 80 RPM's. Once the 5-minute test is over, your FTP will be displayed on the screen. We will then take 5-10 minutes to review the numbers and compare your predicted FTP to your actual FTP. We will leave time to address any questions and celebrate your new FTP scores!
