March 2025

Message From The Executive Director

We are happily busy here at the ELC with 3-5 classes on campus every day, M-F having the time of their lives with outdoor immersive environmental education experiences. We are also thankfully active with lots of guided kayak and pontoon trips and bird and plant walks and tons of drop-in visitors 7 days a week. We are glad the word is getting out to more and more folks about what an amazing spot the ELC is for all ages.

We have lots of interesting speakers coming up, so check them out and sign up for the ones you can join us for. Our new Art Exhibit opens on March 5 with the Artist Meet and Greet March 6, 5:30 to 7:30 PM, and we hope you will come out for that and enjoy this beautiful weather, campus, wonderful art from John’s Island artists, live music and refreshments. Come see us at our info table at the Ocean Drive street concert Saturday, March 8, and the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge anniversary celebration, hosted by Pelican Island Conservation Society, here at the ELC on Saturday, March 15.

Check out our online auction in support of our annual fundraiser. Lots of great items and 50-50 raffle tickets available. We are thankful to the 200+ attendees that purchased their tickets, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you tomorrow, March 1.

March makes us think of GREEN and we hope you all make time to get outdoors and enjoy the amazing natural wonders around us.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Barbara Schlitt Ford
