March Happenings

Dear Friends,

With longer days all signs point to spring! We just received our vegetable seeds, big bales of Promix arrived so we can get soil ready for flowers, and our first baby pansies should arrive in a week or so! March is also a busy month in the wine world--many distributors hold their annual portfolio tastings in March, so I look forward to going to Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Saratoga Springs to do lots of tasting, meet the producers, and plan on new wines for the shop as well as the wine club.

We have some important staff updates this month. We are saying farewell to Ann at the end of the week as she moves on to new adventures. We are so grateful for everything Ann has contributed to East Branch Organics over the past 4 years. Her botanical knowledge is encyclopedic, her work ethic is always above and beyond, and most importantly she is such a fun and wonderful person to have on staff! And, by the way, she's an amazing baker too! It's hard to imagine EBO without you Ann! But while we will miss Ann terribly, we are also excited to announce that Ellie Gettins is stepping in to become our new Greenhouse Manager. You have probably met Ellie over past few years as she has been part of the summer growing crew for several seasons during her summer breaks from college. Ellie has learned so much under both Ann's and Heather's tutelage, we know she is prepared to take on this role and bring fresh ideas and energy to our EBO team.

Speaking of our wonderful hard-working staff, Abi has spent much of this winter re-designing our website to provide a fresh new look and make it more user friendly. It will launch soon! Thank you, Abi!

I'm also excited to announce that I have been working on my WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) wine certification courses and just recently passed Level 2. Thanks to Tom and Heather for supporting my wine education...and I look forward to working on Level 3!

The Wine & Spirits shop launched two new programs in February:

  • We rolled out our new two bottle a month wine club! Read more about it below!
  • We began a loyalty program last month! If you haven't signed up already, ask next time you stop by. You earn points with every purchase, and you will be able to convert those points into dollars and save on future purchases.

We have two fun and creative events planned for March--check out our "Events" section below!

With March we return to our regular schedule: open 7 days a week!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Heather's Blog: Colors

One of my very favorite books when I was a child was Colors are Nice, which was part of the little Golden Books collection. I used to read it over and over again when I was a little girl and marvel at all the different colors and how they corresponded to each other. As we head into the month of March, I’m thinking about color and getting excited to see what new combinations we will come up with this season. The winter is full of so many amazing opportunities for

What's New in the Wine & Spirits Shop?

Wine Club at East Branch Organics!

We launched our new wine club in February, and we are so pleased with the initial response--we had to re-order! For the members who first joined in February, we chose a red and a white from classic regions in France: a red wine from Bordeaux and a white wine from the Loire Valley.

The wine club is a monthly subscription. Members are charged $36 each month, and the wines are ready to pick up by the first Friday of the month. There is a theme to the wines chosen each month (typically it will be region), you receive a description about the wines, and you even get a little East Branch Organics wine tote!

The club is a fun, tasty, and affordable way to try new wines and learn about different wine regions. Read more about it and sign up with the link below!

This is a family friendly event and we will be offering non-alcoholic beverages as well.

Cost is $10 for one card, $18 for two, and $24 for three. Feel free to bring an interested child!
