Welcome to Big Sur Health Center's

March Newsletter

Good morning, and happy March. As a new month begins and spring is just around the corner, we wanted to share some updates with you about what has been happening at the Big Sur Health Center recently—and what’s ahead for March.

First, many thanks to the Big Sur Food and Wine Foundation, which presented the Big Sur Health Center with a check for $48,000 raised during their 2024 Festival. You can see a photo of Sharen and Kathie at the dispersal ceremony below. We're very grateful for the BSFW team who work so hard to produce this event that creates so much financial support for the Big Sur nonprofits.

In March, Kathie and Sharen will attend the CHOMP annual meeting where we will participate in thanking Dr. Steven Packer, retiring CHOMP CEO, for all of his invaluable support of the health center all these years.

We are also currently busy preparing the annual report of health center activities for the State. A summary of the report will appear in the spring edition of ¡Salud!

Looking ahead a bit further: The Big Sur Health Center provides support for the Big Sur Marathon (which will happen on Sunday, April 27 this year) and in return, the Big Sur Marathon Foundation awards us grant funding. To this end, the Health Center is looking for volunteers to help with the refreshment station at the marathon start at the MAF. Please contact Kathie (kathie@bigsurhealthcenter.org) for a sign-up code if you are interested in volunteering. And thank you for your support.

In the meantime, read on below for more information and health tips for the month ahead.

Take care,

The Big Sur Health Center Team

March is National Nutrition Month -

Small Changes, Big Impact!

Fuel Your Health with Smart Choices! 🍎🥦

March is here, bringing with it National Nutrition Month—the perfect opportunity to reflect on our eating habits and embrace a healthier lifestyle. What we eat plays a crucial role in our overall well-being, impacting everything from energy levels to long-term health.

By incorporating fresh fruits, colorful vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and nutrient-rich dairy into our daily meals, we can take meaningful steps toward a stronger, healthier future.

✅ Small changes add up! Try swapping processed snacks for wholesome alternatives, drinking more water, or adding one extra serving of veggies to your plate each day.

At Big Sur Health Center, we’re here to support your wellness journey. Let’s make March the month of nourishment, balance, and better health—one bite at a time!
