House Notes | March 2022
Thank you for your support!
Dear Friend,

As Family House enters our third year of living amidst COVID, we are proud that we haven’t missed a single day in providing the best place to be during the worst time in a family's life.

We want to extend a special thanks to our restaurant partners who have been helping us feed our families, the foundation and corporate donors who continue to support us with generous donations, and our incredible Board of Directors and individual donors who have gone above and beyond to ensure we can always provide care, comfort and compassion to every family in need.
You're Invited!

Throw on your favorite 80's outfit and join us at the beautiful Ritz Carlton San Francisco for a night of live music by Wonder Bread 5, dinner and cocktails, a finely curated live auction, and much more. Hundreds of dedicated supporters, corporate partners, friends and volunteers will gather for this big event - skip the FOMO and book your room at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco for a discounted rate!
Call for Volunteers!

Want to work behind the scenes to throw the best event ever? Sign up to volunteer if you want to be among great people coming together for a good cause. We’re looking for 60 enthusiastic volunteers to support our annual gala on April 2nd! Sign up for shifts including check-in, live auction, raffle and various other roles. Thank you for your support!

Please Note: For the safety of our guests, volunteers and vendors, all attendees and volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including a booster if eligible). We will adhere to mask protocols in San Francisco at the time of the event. We want everyone to be comfortable and safe, and most importantly, to enjoy a wonderful evening.
Blanks Family
Three days before baby Jensen was born in 2019, doctors informed Jill and Jason Blanks that their baby had a 0% chance to live.

Born weighing just 1 lb. and 12 oz., Jensen surprised the world! After leaving the hospital, Jill and Jason had to figure out medical bills and housing. That's when they found Family House.
Thank you to our community!
Our friends at the Feedie Foundation made a special Valentine's Day delivery of individually wrapped treats, cookies, donuts and cupcakes for our families.

The Feedie Foundation is a nonprofit operated by young entrepreneurs whose mission is to share their love of food with those in need.
We’re proud to have been nominated for The Starbucks Foundation #NeighborhoodGrants, thanks to Cole Muñoz, a longtime Family House volunteer and Starbucks partner!

The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program supports grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations.

Elan Slavin, MSW - 5 Years!
Since the arrival of our Social Worker, Elan Slavin, there has been another beacon of support at Family House. Her expertise and compassion are exactly what the doctor ordered in providing family-centered care for all. We are grateful for Elan and the essential role she plays in supporting sick children and their families.
Fidel Campos - 5 Years!
Fidel works in the housekeeping department helping to keep the building clean and safe. He goes out of his way to help everyone staying, working or visiting Family House. Fidel is truly an example of what we stand for with a compassionate way of playing games with the kids, and providing genuine support for the families - whether it's helping with their luggage or moving furniture to help accommodate a sick child's comfort. Fidel truly loves working at Family House and has never missed a single day of work in five years!
Ung Ly - 5 Years!
Ung started as an Engineering Supervisor at Family House, responsible for housekeeping and building maintenance. He was promoted to Director of Facilities in August 2020. Ung works with families and employees to make sure they are safe and that the building is maintained in a like new condition. He goes above and beyond - driving families when there is a need, picking up toys, food and donations in the Family House van or helping kids build a toy or play catch in the halls. He is a gentle and kind person who always has the time to talk and help families or staff with their needs.

Jeanine Homich - 10 Years!
Our Office Manager, Jeanine Homich, is a true pillar of Family House’s team. Her expertise, organizational genius and compassion for the families and our mission enables us to provide the best care possible for every family staying with us. We are grateful for Jeanine for playing a central role in the day-to-day administrative life of Family House, as well as all the extra special touches she has, whether it’s having compassionate conversations with families, making flower arrangements for fundraisers, or throwing the best staff holiday parties around!
