  • Mr Stan Townsend – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Modafinil and Modafinil Acid were detected in the post-race urine sample taken from GOOD COP following its win in race 4, the COBBITTY EQUINE FARM PACE (2040 metres) conducted at Parkes on Monday 4 October 2021. The reserve portion and control sample were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services LTD (RASL) in Victoria.
 
  • Mr Chris Frisby – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Levamisole was detected in the urine sample taken from UNCLE CRAIGO following its win in race 1, the AMBOS STOCKFEEDS MAIDEN PACE (2100 metres) conducted at Young on Sunday 28 November 2021. The reserve portion and control sample were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services LTD (RASL) in Victoria.
 

Inquiries Concluded
 
  • 31 March 2022 – Mr Bruce Fox pleaded guilty to three (3) charge issued by HRNSW Stewards following a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Prilocaine and Lignocaine had been detected in the urine sample taken from the horse TARAMIN following its win in race 8, the SOMERSBY CIDER PACE (2125 metres) conducted at Penrith on Thursday 1 April 2021.
 
In relation to a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 190 (1), (2) & (4), Mr Fox was disqualified for a period of 12 months.
 
In relation to a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 196A(1)(ii) & (2), Mr Fox was disqualified for a period of 12 months, to be served concurrently.

Mr Fox was fined $500 in relation to a Log Book offence issued pursuant to AHRR 190B(1)(b) & (6).
 
The subject horse was disqualified under the provisions of AHRR 195. (original notice at www.hrnsw.com.au)
 

Appeal Decision
 
  • 8 March 2022– Mr Peter Russo appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his Trainer’s licence on 16 February 2022 pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule 183. The NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal granted Mr Russo a Stay and the suspension of his Trainer’s licence was set aside.

  • 14 March 2022– Mr Matthew Johnstone appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify him for a period of 6 months he pleaded guilty to a charge issued by HRNSW Stewards pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 190 (1), (2) & (4) following a report from the from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that synephrine had been detected in the urine sample taken from JAY PEEZ OFFICIAL following its win in race 1, FERNDALE DISTRIBUTORS LADYSHIP PACE (2000 metres) conducted at Temora on Tuesday 5 January 2021. The NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal granted Mr Johnstone a Stay and the disqualification was set aside.

  • 14 March 2022– Mr Jack Trainor withdrew an appeal against the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driver’s licence for a period of 21 days pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 22 February.

  • 28 March 2022– Mr Brian Portelli appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify his Driver’s Licence for a period of 21 days following a breach of AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) when driving MERRYWOOD MAX in Race 6, the AUTO ME FINANCE MAIDEN PACE (2125 metres) conducted at Penrith on Thursday 2 December 2021. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal against conviction was dismissed and the appeal against penalty was upheld. Consequently, the suspension of Mr Portelli’s Driver’s Licence was amended to 14 days.
 
  • 28 March 2022– Ms Courtney Sutherland appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify her Driver’s Licence for a period of 7 days following a breach of AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) when driving BIG BEAT in Race 6, the MOONSHINERS - HONKY TONK BAR PACE (1980 metres) conducted at Tamworth on Tuesday 11 January 2022. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was dismissed.
 
  • 30 March 2022– Mr Robert Morris appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify his Driver’s Licence for a period of 21 days following a breach of AHRR 168(1)(e) when driving SKYZRCLEARNSUNNY in Race 1, the AQUAGAIT EQUINE CENTRE TROTTERS MOBILE (1609 metres) conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday 30 November 2021. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was upheld.
 

Integrity Information
 
  • During the month of March 2022, HRNSW Integrity department obtained 876 Race day samples.
 
As per normal HRNSW procedure all samples have been submitted for analysis.
