Great Summers Start Here

Our summer camp guide is here, packed with sunshine, friendships, and lots of adventure! We have a variety of options for campers ages 5-18.

Our Clubs

Harper Teen Center Robotics Team Advances to San Diego Regional Championship

Competing under team GarageBot 15146, in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) interleague robotics tournament, three BGC San Dieguito members finished as the third-highest ranking team out of 25, advancing to the San Diego Regional Championship!

Under the mentorship of volunteers Naythan Chan, Erik Shamsedeen, and Ben Su, our members built a robot that completed a series of challenges in two and a half minutes. In the process, they learned about Java programming, CAD design, and utilizing servos and motors for various motions, while also honing their teamwork skills.

Team GarageBot 15146 ended the tournament taking home the following awards:

  • 1st place–Think Award for their engineering notebook
  • 2nd place–Inspire Award for embodying FIRST's values
  • 3rd place–Innovation Award for their inventive solutions

Congratulations to Simon Bodenheimer, Gregory Ellinghaus, and Julia Partello, members of our robotics club at the Harper Branch.

Culinary Adventures After School

Members of all ages enjoy cooking after school thanks to our Center For a Healthy Lifestyle in Encinitas. Recent dishes included pesto pasta–with dough made from scratch and sauced with homemade garden pesto. Dessert included mini lemon tarts using citrus from Griset's garden!

Torch Club, Leadership Skills For 11-13 Year Olds

Torch Club members met up and talked about upcoming events. They organized activities for the pancake breakfast with each member having a task for the day. In addition, they reached out to Nature Collective to volunteer to restore and beautify the San Elijo lagoon. The group also participated in team-building activities that helped them get to know each other’s leadership strengths.

Wise Guys Meet & Bond

Big thanks to our volunteer Arman, who dedicated his time to meet with our Wise Guys program members at our Griset Club the last few months.

Arman taught them how to design and build a glider craft which enabled practice in strategic thinking, craftsmanship, and teamwork.

Our gratitude goes out to SDSU's Aztec Unity Project volunteers who recently visited our Polster Club to lead exciting activities for our kids. Activities included making lava lamps, marshmallow towers, and invisible ink. It was a fantastic experience enjoyed by everyone. This is the second year SDSU has collaborated with our program.

Thank You Encinitas, Ross!

Shout out to Encinitas, Ross, and those who donated at the register during the 10th anniversary of our cause marketing campaign.

All proceeds directly benefited our Griset Club kids and programs in Encinitas.
