Vendors Wanted for Lacey Spring Fun Fair


Be part of one of Lacey’s biggest community celebrations! The Lacey Spring Fun Fair returns May 16 & 17, and we are still looking for vendors to join the fun.


We are seeking commercial and artisan vendors (please note: food vendor applications are now closed) to showcase their products and connect with the community. This is a great opportunity to reach families and share your unique offerings in a lively, family-friendly setting.


Businesses and nonprofits are also invited to participate in Kids World, offering fun, hands-on activities for children. Additionally, we are looking for groups to take part in our S.T.E.A.M. Fair, highlighting science, technology, engineering, art, and math in exciting ways.


Space is limited, so don’t wait — apply today and be part of Lacey’s premier spring event!

March Into Fun: Teen Late Night Awaits!


Looking for a fun, safe way for your middle schooler to spend an evening? Lacey Teen Late Nights are the perfect opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to hang out with friends and enjoy an action-packed night! Each event features a DJ, karaoke, video games, 3-on-3 basketball, inflatables, contests, and prizes. There’s something for everyone! Events are open to all students living in the NTPS district, including private and home-schooled students.


A valid student ID is required for entry, and pre-registration is required with no exceptions. Registration closes at 5 p.m. on the day of the event, and no refunds are available.

Creativity Corner: An Egg-citing Spring Craft!


Spring is the perfect time to get creative at the Lacey Museum! This April, stop by Creativity Corner and decorate your own wooden Easter egg. If you enjoy painting rocks, you’ll love designing this festive keepsake with bright colors, fun patterns, and your own artistic style.


Create something cheerful to celebrate the season and take home a decoration you’ll be proud to display all spring long. This is one Easter egg you definitely won’t want to hide!


This free activity is open to all ages and is a great way to add a little creativity to your museum visit.

Saving the Nisqually Delta


Located just eight miles northeast of Olympia, the Nisqually Delta is one of the country’s last unspoiled estuaries. In this presentation, author Janine Gates will discuss the history of the delta and the efforts that helped protect it from industrial development.


Gates will share insights from her book Saving the Nisqually Delta, exploring the historical pressures to industrialize the area and the citizen activism that played a key role in preserving it. She will also highlight important moments in Washington State environmental history and discuss why the delta continues to face threats from urban and industrial encroachment.

Janine Gates is an Olympia-based freelance journalist and photographer who recently published Saving the Nisqually Delta, a book about the citizen activism that protected the delta from industrialization. She has lived in Olympia for more than 40 years and previously wrote more than 500 articles for her community news blog, Little Hollywood. Gates has also served with the South Puget Environmental Education Clearinghouse (SPEECH) and the Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum. Through her work with Little Hollywood Media, she focuses on documenting and preserving personal histories that help give context to the stories of our region.

Kids Fishing Event: Hooked on Fun!


Bring the kids out for a day of fishing, learning, and outdoor fun at Longs Pond! This hands-on event is perfect for ages 4–14. Participants will get to cast a line, learn fishing tips from volunteers, and enjoy the great outdoors. Each registered child receives a rod and reel to keep!

Bricks 4 Kidz Junior & Advanced Robotics (6-14 years)


Give your child the ultimate STEM experience! Bricks 4 Kidz Robotics introduces kids to real-world engineering and programming through hands-on learning and fun challenges. Each week, students will design and build dynamic robotic creations using LEGO® Spike Prime technology and Bricks 4 Kidz exclusive model plans. Then, they’ll bring their robots to life by programming them on tablets to perform amazing tasks!


With age-appropriate challenges for beginners and advanced learners, this six-week program is perfect for kids who love to build, code, and problem-solve. It’s an exciting way to spark creativity and innovation while learning the fundamentals of robotics and coding.

Groove and Move: Beginner Hip Hop (6-12 years)


Looking for a fun, high-energy way for your child to get moving? Beginner Hip Hop is designed to help kids stay active, build confidence, and express themselves through dance. This upbeat class introduces basic hip hop moves, rhythm, and freestyle skills in a welcoming, supportive environment.


Participants will learn choreography, explore creative movement, and have a blast staying active every session. Don’t forget to bring water!

Tiny Movers (3–5 years)


Looking for a fun, high-energy way for your little one to get moving? Tiny Movers introduces our youngest dancers to the magic of movement through ballet, hip hop, and musical theatre. Each week includes music, rhythm, basic technique, and plenty of imagination, making it perfect for energetic little ones who love to dance and perform.


Participants will explore creative movement, practice new skills, and have a blast staying active every session.

Hip Hop Step Aerobics (16+ years)


This energizing aerobics class blends step combinations with a fun hip hop vibe and high-energy music. Expect big movement, booty-shaking beats, and a workout that keeps you smiling while you sweat.


No experience is required. Just bring your own step, water, and get ready to move, groove, and have fun. Please note that some lyrics may be explicit.

Sensory Friendly Creative Dance Class (5–9 years)


This Specialized Recreation Class is designed for children who are developmentally between the ages of 5 and 9 and who are neurodivergent and/or on the autism spectrum. In partnership with South Sound Dance Access and Sensory Tool House LLC, this class offers a welcoming space for children to explore dance and movement in a supportive environment.


Using developmental science, instructors guide participants through creative dance activities that build motor skills, strengthen the mind-body connection, and encourage self-expression. Dancers will explore different dance styles and concept-based games while learning about time, space, direction, levels, and more. Sensory tools and props help create an engaging and comfortable experience for every participant. Children will even have the chance to choreograph their own dances.

Tuesdays, 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. | $85

Tap (6–12 years)


This fun and energetic class introduces students to the fundamentals of tap dance. Dancers will learn basic steps, rhythm, musicality, tap terminology, body awareness, and short combinations in a supportive environment. This class is ideal for beginners or those with some previous experience.


Please wear tap shoes and comfortable dance attire, such as leggings and a t-shirt or leotard and tights, and ensure hair is pulled back. This class is closed to parents and bystanders.

Ballet (6–9 years)


This class is designed for children ages 6–9, whether it’s their first introduction to ballet or they’ve previously tried creative ballet or pre-ballet. Students will focus on the basics of ballet, including terminology, stretches, balance, routines, body awareness, musicality, imagination, and a bit of choreography. This class is suitable for beginners or intermediate dancers.


Please wear ballet shoes if possible (or soft dance shoes that won’t slip) and comfortable clothing such as ballet attire or leggings and a top. Hair should be pulled back. This class is closed to parents and bystanders.

Spring Break Express Day Camp (6-12 years)

 

Looking for a safe, engaging way for your child to spend Spring Break? Spring Break Express Day Camp is packed with activities kids love — games, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and even performances! Our experienced recreation staff (the same team from our popular summer camps) will keep campers active, entertained, and supervised all day long.

 

Please send your child with a sack lunch and morning/afternoon snacks each day.

Alderbrook Resort Hiking Trip & Brunch 
(18+ years)


Explore the beautiful Hood Canal on this guided hiking trip at Alderbrook Resort, which offers over five miles of walking and hiking trails. From the easy Big Tree Loop to the longer Huckleberry Hillclimb, there’s a trail for every skill level. Enjoy scenic views of the Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains, and take advantage of comfortable benches along the trails to rest and soak in the forest surroundings.


After the hike, we’ll finish the day with brunch at The Restaurant at Alderbrook, featuring a variety of fresh local seafood from the Puget Sound and Hood Canal. Please bring money for brunch and wear comfortable walking shoes. Brunch is an open menu, not a buffet. Difficulty: Easy to moderate, depending on individual trail choices.

Did You Know?

The Lacey Museum Has a New Home!


Did you know the Lacey Museum is now open in a brand new location? The museum recently moved into a fresh space at the Bell Towne Centre, giving visitors a new way to explore the stories, people, and artifacts that shaped our community.


The updated museum features brand new exhibits and never-before-seen artifacts that highlight Lacey’s rich local history. Visitors can take a free 30-minute guided tour led by staff or volunteers, browse exhibits at their own pace, or stop by with questions and learn more about the area’s past.


The museum is open Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and admission is free. Free parking is available behind the building, and a bus stop is conveniently located right in front of the museum.


Whether you are a longtime community member or new to the area, the new Lacey Museum offers a fun and welcoming way to connect with the history of our community. Stop by and see what’s new. You might discover a story you never knew about Lacey!
