Swing into Summertime with Aurora Dance Arts

That sunny time of year is right around the corner, Summertime! Aurora Dance Arts is happy to announce the spectacular Summer Dance program. Summer is a time of travel, rest and rejuvenation, but current students are highly encouraged to continue their dance training during this time as well, so that they are ready to blast off into the 2024-25 Continuous Program with passion and prowess! This is also a great time to explore the Aurora Dance Arts program all it has to offer if you or your child are new to the city of Aurora, new to the art of dance, or if you would like to explore news styles of dance that you may have not tried previously.

 

Summer Dance with Aurora Dance Arts includes an expansive schedule of weekly Summer Dance classes, dance camps/intensives, and master classes options. All programs are aimed at continued development of dancers’ technical abilities and artistry along with experiencing dance training in fun and varied environments. 

Summer dance classes run from the end of June through mid-August. All classes run in 6-7 week sessions, dependent on the teacher, day of the week and/or location. Class offerings are for both children/youth & adults. Camp offerings include: Fairytale Princess/Prince Camp (Ages 4-6), Welcome to the Jungle Camp (Ages 4-6), Superheroes/Villains Camp (Ages 4-6) and the Beginning Level Sample the Styles Camp (Ages 7-12). Also included in the summer schedule is the Intermediate/Advanced Level Summer Dance Intensive. The intensive is for Ages 10-18 and focuses on intermediate/advanced dancers who want to bring their dance training to an exciting, new level during the summer months! In the intensive environment, students receive daily ballet classes concentrated on improvement of technique, terminology and alignment alongside other daily classes in myriad dance styles with a variety of teachers. Other offerings on the summer schedule will be Friday evening, master classes throughout the June-August. These master classes/workshops will be taught by a variety of instructors including ADA staff and guest artists. Styles being explored for these master classes include: floorwork/acrobatics for dancers, yoga for dancers, musical theater, world dance styles and kinesiology/pain management/injury prevention.

Level placement and enrollment specifications do apply to many of the Summer Dance offerings, so please make sure to check with the Dance Office regarding placement.

Gonzalo Teppa and Friends “Origins”

In celebration of international Jazz Day

Venezuelan Bassist and composer Gonzalo Teppa performing his most recent original music that draws from the musical wells of Latin American roots (Venezuelan, Brazilian, Argentinian, and Afro-Cuban), ballads, Jazz and more. Each composition and arrangement written by Gonzalo is inspired in the origins of each of his bandmembers as well as his native country-Venezuela-. This new ensemble features: singer Josefina Mendez (Argentina), guitarist Gabriel Santiago (Brazil), drummer Alejandro Castaño (Colombia-Cuba) and bassist Gonzalo Teppa (Venezuela).
