Hello Friends,

The term 'March Madness' may never mean the same as in years past. We sincerely hope that if you are reading this, you are doing well and coping as best you can with our current global crisis.

We are fortunate to offer all DWCS LinkedIn Coaching Services virtually as we have for over 8 years around the world. We will look forward to returning to in-person instruction as life returns to normal. You may have extra 'down time' on your hands... contact us to make use of it. This may be an optimal time to refresh your profile if you're in transition - the HR industry makes very strong use of LinkedIn to seek candidates.

In the meantime, with years of experience, I'd like to offer:

  1. Define your start & stop time along with things you need to accomplish each day. Combining work with home life can create a blur and it's best to separate the two as much as possible. It's okay to make a schedule.
  2. Do the best you can to have a separate, designated 'work space'.
  3. Make time for yourself - keep that morning routine if you can. Take time to eat right and exercise. My neighbors might think me a bid odd if they observe me pacing around my patio but it works for me when I'm short on time!
  4. Keep your meetings intact with face-to-face video chats. Lots of free apps available - see the March Spotlight below.
  5. Set realistic goals and reward yourself!

Onward! We have some great LinkedIn Tips to share along with some great webinars! Wishing you all well - we are in this together.

With much gratitude ~

LinkedIn Tips to Lead You to
the Pot o' Gold!

TIP 1 - Add Profile Section: Have you earned Honors & Awards during your career? Belong to professional organizations? Speak another language? Don't miss the opportunity to add these sections to your profile. At the top of your profile, tap on Add Profile Section and explore all available sections - especially under Accomplishments. Don't be afraid to showcase important aspects of your professionalism.

TIP 2 - My Network: On the black navigation bar, top of any page, tap My Network to act on any outstanding Invitations to Connect. Be sure to scroll under that area for an endless listing of potential Connections - my favorite segment is More Suggestions for You. LinkedIn has scoured your profile data and determined you might have synergy with the members presented here. Be certain NOT to hit Connect on this display! Visit the person's profile to determine value, then tap Connect while on their profile to Add A Note. Your invitation is 5x more likely to be accepted if you personalize it.

TIP 3 - Engage: Use the changed work scenario to your advantage! Be sure to write a brief 'thank you' note to each new Connection, but also mention to those with significant value that you are making an effort to follow the suggestion of 'social distancing' and make arrangements for a brief call or screen share to get to know them better. You can do this without seeming 'sales-y'. Key into something on their profile that stands out to you. See March Spotlight for free apps to screen share.

Please consider that we are all in this together, and together we will get through it. Practice social distancing and be responsible. Follow reputable sources for updates like the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control

Keeping your interaction with others very sparse at this time is prudent. Get familiar with some online screen share programs: we've used GoToMeeting for years; another popular one is Zoom, and check out Whatsapp. These tools allow you to effectively communicate 'in mass' for business meetings, events, networking, or communicating with your family 'face-to-face.

Be informed, be patient, be kind.
