March Madness is Here…

and Apparently So Is Winter!

The groundhogs had their moment.

Some saw shadows. Some didn’t. Some clearly needed a second opinion. But while predictions were flying around the country, something else was happening here at Caledonia…

Our grooming team was working tirelessly behind the scenes.

After a stretch of unpredictable weather, they put in long hours this week — adjusting, repairing, packing, resurfacing, and making smart calls — all to bring conditions back to life for our members. And if you were out this weekend, you know the result:

Absolutely AMAZING skiing.

Fresh corduroy. Solid tracks. Sunshine. Smiles everywhere.

March skiing at Caledonia often delivers some of the best days of the season — and right now, we are in that sweet spot. Firm mornings, softer afternoons, longer daylight, and a community that just loves being out there.

If you have been thinking, “Maybe I should have grabbed a membership…” — now is your moment.

Use code MARCHMADNESS2026 and join us.

Ski a handful of times (just 6 times) and you are ahead. Come for March sun and Glorious Spring Break Skiing. Meet friends on the trails. Bring the kids. Ski a sunny afternoon. Repeat.

And remember — your membership includes reciprocal skiing opportunities at partner clubs (Nordic and downhill), perfect if you’re travelling over the break.

Huge thanks to our incredible grooming and rental shop team for their commitment, creativity, and sheer determination this week. Because of them, we are set up for a fantastic March.

If you were holding off, now is the time to join the community!

See you on the snow.

Dog Trails Updates

Upper Dog On It and Underdog are back — and they were outstanding this weekend.

After a stretch of closures and some uncertainty, it was pretty special to see those trails buzzing again. Firm snow, happy dogs, smiling skiers — it felt like Caledonia at its best.

A huge thanks to our grooming team for the work that went into bringing these trails back online. It wasn’t automatic — it took time, effort, and some smart decision-making to get them skiing so well.

As we move through March, there may be periods where additional work is needed, and conditions can always shift quickly this time of year. We will keep you posted if anything changes.

Get them while you can.

March skiing can be magic — and right now the dog trails are delivering.

See you (and your four-legged training partners) out there

Winter Isn’t Over. Not Even Close.

Every year it happens.

The sun comes out. The calendar flips to March. Someone mentions spring. And suddenly… bikes start coming down off the wall.

Meanwhile?

The skiing is outstanding.

We see it every season — members forcing themselves onto road bikes, grinding through sandy shoulders and dirty pavement, convincing themselves it’s “time.”

But here’s the truth:

It’s still ski season.

After a challenging winter, we have worked hard to get to this point. The grooming team has rebuilt and reset. The trails are skiing beautifully. The days are longer. The energy is high.

Why rush away from that?

There is something uniquely special about March skiing — firm mornings, sunshine, community laps, dogs on the trails, kids flying down hills. It’s not survival skiing anymore. It is the best skiing of the season.

Every year, members seem eager to jump to the next sport before the current one is finished. We search for what is next instead of embracing what is here.

Leave the bikes on the wall for another month.

Keep the skis waxed.

Take advantage of the incredible conditions in front of you.

When biking season is ready, we will embrace it!

But right now?

It is still ski season.

And there is still so much winter left to enjoy.

A Huge Personal Thank You to the

Caledonia Nordic Team

Seasons like this do not just happen. They are built — day by day — by an incredible team of people who care deeply about this club and our members.

I want to take a moment to recognize the full Caledonia Nordic team.

Carolyn works tirelessly behind the scenes coordinating school groups, constantly adjusting schedules and logistics to ensure that as many students as possible get the chance to experience skiing. Her flexibility and commitment to youth access makes a real difference in our community. Carolyn and her team of instructors introduce so many kids to the sport each year and we truly appreciate their hard work.

Aaron is the steady, welcoming presence at the heart of our operations. Whether it’s answering endless questions, helping members, setting up day passes, keeping rentals moving smoothly, or taking care of my constant requests, he brings professionalism, calm, and genuine care to every interaction. The office runs because Aaron makes it run — and he does it exceptionally well.

Behind the scenes, Lisa quietly keeps our website and social media current and informative. From sharing updates and promoting events to making sure members can find the information they need, her work keeps our community connected and informed. Much of what our members rely on each day flows through her thoughtful attention to detail.

Tuppy and Ali continue to lead with passion and professionalism, creating high-quality training environments for our competitive athletes. Their commitment — alongside the many volunteer coaches who support them — ensures our athletes are challenged, supported, and inspired every day. It is always great to see this team training and working together!

Beth brings enthusiasm and leadership to our Track Attack crew, while Sarah continues to guide and support our varsity athletes with dedication and care.

Belinda, our Skills Development Program Coordinator, and her outstanding team of volunteer coaches have shown incredible flexibility this season. Adjusting session plans, navigating temperature swings, and keeping over a hundred young skiers engaged and smiling is no small feat. The strength of our volunteer coaching group is something truly special.

Nicole and her volunteer team continue to work through winter challenges with event planning — from community events, like Winterfest, to the now world-famous Brewski. Her energy and creativity create experiences that bring people together and showcase the best of Caledonia Nordic.

Our rental team — Isabel, Tate, Stian, Linden, and Griffin — have adapted quickly to shifting weather and changing conditions, ensuring members and guests can still get out on snow with the right equipment and support. We thank them for their flexibility!

And of course, our grooming team — Peter, Kaleb, Edy, Steve C, Steve B ("Other Steve"), Summer, and Nathanael. This season has demanded creativity, long hours, and tough decision-making. Their commitment to preserving our base, responding to weather swings, and delivering the best possible skiing conditions has kept us going when it would have been easy to fall behind.

I am truly honored to be part of a team filled with such dedicated, adaptable, and passionate people. Every one of them is willing to adjust, pivot, and put in the work to make things amazing for our members.

Caledonia Nordic is strong because of its people.

Thank you to this entire team for everything you do.
