March 2021
We hope you enjoy this month's highlights of our impact and mission in action!
Happy Spring!

With the longer days beginning, warmer weather can’t be far behind. Indeed, for all of us at the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club, there is already a “bounce” in our step. That’s because every March we can’t help but think BASKETBALL!  As the pandemic and our renovation project continues, we cannot have a true basketball season this year. That said, we can certainly enjoy a little March (Mission) Madness to support our kids! See below to learn more.

This month we are also helping kids treasure the ordinary moments that help create a sense of normalcy in otherwise unusual times. For instance, we are excited to host a Pancake and (Easter) Egg Dinner for kids in our afterschool program. On Friday, March 26th, our younger members will participate in an Easter Egg hunt, while our teens prepare a pancake breakfast for dinner! This is a fun way for our youngest members to take part in a familiar tradition and our teens to enjoy the rewards of giving back.

Meanwhile, warmer days will be here before you know it. Our Club is already laying plans for a May 10th Golf & Tennis Outing, Summer Camp, and an official Alumni Reunion this November.

As you can see, we have so much to look forward to, and we hope you will join us every step of the way!

March Mission Madness: Giving Kids a Shot at Their Dreams

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club has always been a special place for basketball lovers. In fact, when our building reopens later this year and as health guidelines allow, we look forward to welcoming back all the basketball players, coaches, and cheering families!

Meanwhile, we are trying to capture the spirit of March Madness through an awareness and fundraising initiative throughout the month.

We are calling this effort â€śMARCH MISSION MADNESS” and hope you will help us spread the word about and consider supporting the Club programs that give kids a shot at pursuing their dreams.

After all, the sport of basketball is a metaphor for just about everything else the Club does: build confidence; promote teamwork; foster healthy living; and inspire kids to dream big.

Grenville Baker REUNION!
Save the Dates! Nov 5 - 7

As Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club marks its 71st year and nears the completion of its major renovation and expansion project, we know that NOW is the time to reconnect with our alumni in a meaningful way.

To this end, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting an ALUMNI REUNION WEEKEND from November 5-7, 2021 at our newly-renovated Clubhouse at 135 Forest Avenue, Locust Valley, NY.

For this event to be truly special and successful, we need your input and help! If you are a former Grenville Baker Club Kid, we ask that you participate in a short survey to help us gauge interest and reconnect with other Cub kids.
Over the years, countless alumni have told us that Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club made a positive and lasting impact on their lives. Indeed, many of those who participated in the Club’s rustic “Canadian Camp” in the 1950s and 1960s remark that the summers they spent in the woods in Canada are among the most cherished memories of their lives. â€śClub Kids” from the 70s, 80s and 90s have also shared with us their wonderful memories of making friends, enjoying athletics, and exploring their interests right here on Forest Avenue. While we are still working out the details, we plan to welcome back alumni from all years, with a special recognition of our Canadian Campers. Plus, we will be dedicating different areas of our Clubhouse in honor of and in memory of some very special alumni.

We hope you can join us!
Summer Camp Registration is Open!

We are very excited to be able to offer a Summer Camp this year back at 135 Forest Avenue! Our newly-renovated and expanded facility will provide a wonderful location for our popular camp program.  Summer camp runs from July 6th through August 20th. And while we certainly plan for a summer of fun and games, children’s safety is our top priority. In this spirit, we are offering contactless (online) registration only. Be sure to sign your kids up today.
