March has arrived in Horseshoe Bay, and with it comes a full calendar and renewed momentum in our community. We are pleased to remind all members that our Annual Meeting of Members will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 10:00 AM. Every HSB POA member is invited and encouraged to attend as we reflect on the past year and look ahead to what is next for our Association.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Bryan Roach, Belinda Roberts, and Rick Overholt for their dedicated service on the Board. Each of them has invested significant time, thought, and care into the work of the POA, and our community is stronger because of their efforts. We wish them the very best as they transition from their board roles. At the same time, we are pleased to welcome Michael Appleby, Darlene Bowles, and David Wright as our newest Board Directors; find out more about them below. It is always refreshing to see members step forward to serve, and we are grateful for their willingness to contribute their time and leadership to Horseshoe Bay.

Transparency and stewardship remain central to the Board’s responsibilities. Our annual financial audit has been completed, and the results are available for review on the POA website. We encourage members to take a look and stay informed about our organization's financial health and accountability.

We would also like to recognize the outstanding work Rick Overholt has led in expanding and improving our trail system. The continued development of new trails has added meaningful recreational opportunities for residents, and this progress would not be possible without the many volunteers who have given their time and energy. To everyone who has cleared brush, marked paths, and supported these efforts, thank you. Your work quite literally helps shape the landscape of our community.

February also marked the opening of the new HSB City Center, an exciting addition that enhances the services and amenities available to residents. It is encouraging to see continued investment in infrastructure and gathering spaces that support a thriving community.

March is also a strong month for learning. We have three Community Education events scheduled, each offering practical insight and valuable information. These programs continue to draw engaged audiences and provide meaningful opportunities to stay informed and connected. We encourage everyone to attend and take advantage of these thoughtful presentations.

Finally, we look forward to one of our favorite seasonal traditions. The Spring Fling Art Festival will take place on Thursday, March 26, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This change-of-season celebration brings artists, neighbors, and friends together in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The entire community is invited to attend and enjoy an afternoon that showcases creativity and connection.

Thank you for your continued involvement and commitment to Horseshoe Bay.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Annual Meeting and throughout the many events this month.

Welcoming Our New Board Directors

Every March, we welcome fresh perspectives and deepen our experience to keep the community moving forward.

This year, we are pleased to welcome three dedicated property owners who have each committed their time and leadership to serve Horseshoe Bay.

Michael Appleby

Michael Appleby and his wife made Horseshoe Bay their full-time home in 2022 after visiting regularly since 2008, when his in-laws became residents. He brings professional expertise and local involvement to the Board, holds a political science degree from the University of Southern California, and serves as Director of Business Development for the National Notary Association.

Michael has served two years on the Horseshoe Bay Board of Adjustment, gaining experience in governance and community planning. He focuses on responsible growth, protecting property owner interests, and aligning decisions with our community’s long-term vision.

Darlene Bowles

Darlene Bowles, a full-time Horseshoe Bay resident since 2007, previously served on the POA Board from 2012 to 2016 as Secretary, Vice President, and President. She has remained active in community events and volunteer efforts since then.

With a BA in Political Science and professional experience in governmental relations and project management, Darlene brings seasoned leadership to the table. She has also served in leadership roles with local and statewide organizations, including women’s golf associations, church committees, and service leagues. With nearly two decades in Horseshoe Bay, she remains committed to preserving home values and enhancing residents' quality of life.

David Wright

Dr. David Wright, a retired Family Physician, has owned property in Horseshoe Bay since 2014 and became a full-time resident in 2022. A graduate of Texas A&M and NTSU TCOM, he served 11 years in the US Army Medical Corps before building a distinguished career in medicine and community leadership.

He has served as Chief of Medical Staff, member of the Covenant Hospital Governing Board, past president of the Plainview YMCA Board, and member of the Hale County Industrial Foundation. David is committed to representing Horseshoe Bay property owners and helping keep our community beautiful, unique, and thriving.

Strong communities rely on volunteer leadership. We thank Michael, Darlene, and David for stepping up and look forward to the insight and stewardship they will bring to the HSB POA. 😊

⭐ We are excited to share that the directory has now received its very first business review, marking a great step toward building a stronger, more informed community network.
