We have tax forms available in the main lobby. If you can’t find the form you’re looking for, we’re happy to find them online for you.

If weather conditions are poor, or you are feeling under the weather with cold or flu symptoms and can't make it in to return items, please call us at (920) 398-3434 and we can usually renew your items by at least a few days. We can also provide curbside pick up service if you would like to avoid coming indoors. You can call us to schedule a pick- up time.

Play & Learn

Wednesday, March 8th & 22nd

@ 9:30 am


Come in for fun games and activities focused on learning through play! Recommended for toddlers and up. Led by Miss Morgan, brought to you by Children's Wisconsin.


Play & Learn is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.


Storytime will be taking a winter break, returning in the spring.

Bunny Pageant

March 13 - Bunnies are available for pickup

March 23 thru April 1 - Voting in the library

April 3 - Winners announced


The Bunny Pageant is back for its third year! Starting Monday, March 13th, we'll have free 12" stuffed bunnies available to pick up at the checkout desk. Take it home and decorate it anyway you like! Return your bunny by Wednesday, March 22nd, because all the bunnies will be on display from Thursday, March 23rd to Saturday, April 1st for the public to vote on. Cash prizes will be awarded to top 3 bunnies with the most votes!


The winner will be announced on Monday, April 3rd. All bunnies will be able to hop home with their owners in time for Easter.

Create your own

marshmallow rocket w/4-H

Wednesday, March 15 @ 10:00 am

Sign up in advance; limited to 12 participants


On Wednesday, March 15th @ 10:00 am, come learn about rockets, astronauts, and space exploration while building model rockets out of marshmallows! Designed for kids in grades 5K-4, but all ages are welcome. This is a free program organized by Green Lake County 4-H. Sign up at the library or by calling us at (920) 398-3434.

Green Lake County Dementia Screening

Friday, March 17 from 10:15 am - 4:00 pm


Lisa Zimmerman, Green Lake County's Dementia Care Specialist, will be here at the library conducting a memory screen clinic on Friday, March 17th from 10:15 am - 4:00 pm. On Monday, March 27 @ 6:00 pm, the Markesan Book Club will meet to discuss the "The Five Wishes of Murray McBride" by Joe Siple. Copies are available in a special display at the library. "The Five Wishes of Murray McBride" is the selection for this year's Green Lake County Reads! Our book club is one of the great events happening throughout the county -- see the full schedule soon at the Green Lake County Reads Facebook page!


"The Five Wishes of Murray McBride" follows 100 year old Murray McBride as he finds new purpose helping 10 year old Jason Cashman complete his list of five things he wants to do before the young boy dies from his terminal heart condition. This is an award-winning novel that will be sure to tug on your heartstrings.

Seed & Garden Program w/ Danielle Boerson

Thursday, March 30 @ 6:00 pm


Gardeners of all levels will be interested in this program on Thursday, March 30th @ 6:00 pm! Danielle Boerson of Boerson Farm will lead a free hands-on program on starting seeds indoors! She'll also cover outdoor planting, and other gardening tips! Seeds, planting cells, and soil will be provided.

Ongoing Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (birth to 5 years old): This challenge is is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success! Any child ages birth to five years can participate. Each time you read 100 books, bring your reading record to the library to receive a special reward. At 1,000 books read, come celebrate at the library, see your child’s name placed on the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame, and receive a free book. Pick up a log sheet at the library, or download one by clicking here to get started!

Wi-Fi hotspots are available for checkout at the library!


Thanks to a generous grant from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Markesan Public Library now has two new wi-fi hotspots for patrons 18 and over to checkout. These wi-fi hotspots operate through cellular data provided by US Cellular. Wherever US cellular coverage is available there too will our wi-fi hotspots work to provide our patrons with free wi-fi service. Checkouts are good for two weeks at a time.


The wi-fi hotspots are available at the checkout desk. If you have any questions, please call us at (920) 398-3434. They can be placed on hold similarly to books and movies.
