Update from the Executive Director:
French Fest Canceled and COVID-19
Dear Fellow Members and Friends,

I would like to take a moment to update you on some recent developments at the Chamber and at our partner non-profit, France Education Northwest (FEN, 501c3), due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of Seattle Center Festàl: Seattle’s French Fest: A Celebration of French-Speaking Cultures, which was due to take place on March 22, 2020 and was co-organized with FEN.

This was not an easy choice to make and was the result of days of deliberation and close consultation with our community and city partners. We want to thank all of our partners and participants for the hard work that went into planning this event. We are so grateful for your support. Seattle’s French Fest is a vibrant and exciting celebration that holds a special place in our community, and its cancellation is a disappointment to all of us. Although we cannot replace or reschedule the festival this year, we look forward to finding new ways to celebrate Francophone cultures with our partners. We are confident that the event will return better than ever in 2021. Read the full press release about the cancellation.

Unfortunately, French Fest is not the only event we were working on which has been canceled or postponed. The University of Washington Bothell has cancelled their Learning Expedition to France which was set for the end of March, and our French Aerospace Business Reception with the Aerospace and Defense Suppliers Summit have both been postponed. For now, the Annual Meeting set for April 23 is still on as planned and we will keep you apprised of any changes. As we navigate this uncertain and challenging situation, the safety of our community and our staff remains our top priority. We are closely following all Public Health Guidelines , and encourage you and your families to do the same.
If you are able to help offset the costs we and our partner, FEN, have incurred due to these cancellations, please consider donating to either organization. All donations to FEN are tax-deductible, and donations to the FACC-PNW in the form of a membership come with a variety of built-in benefits. Your donations will help make it possible for us to continue our work in the face of this crisis. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

Le Networking Celebrates Successful Re-Launch!
On Wednesday February 26, a gourmet group of 40+ members of the FACC-PNW, joined by local professionals and Francophones, gathered to celebrate French food entrepreneurship in the Pacific Northwest.

Elise Morin from  La Parisienne French Bakery , Sharon Baden from  Paris-Madrid Grocery  and Anne-Laure Ropars from   Wild Peaks Chocolates  shared their entrepreneurial stories, their challenges and their successes. It was captivating to learn their behind-the-scene stories and their anecdotes about striving for success as women in a dynamic and competitive market. The mood was energetic and fun, and the panel was led by Lucie BROOKS, a member of Le Networking's organizing committee. Attendees had a lot of questions for our three food entrepreneurs leading to a lively discussion on food and life. Read the full report online.
