IT'S WORKING WELL! IMPROVED SUN FLIGHT RELIABILITY - 53 FLIGHT 'SAVES' so far! Photo credit: Tim Burke The good news continues, with the airport reporting 53 "saved' Delta and United flights December - February. That means 53 flights were able to land at SUN with the new approach instead of diverting. Also good news to note is that Alaska Airlines, which has their own propriety approach, has had only one diversion on their SEA flight so far this season! FEB 2021 SUN FLIGHT STATS SUN air travel in February 2021 grew over previous month but had -31% fewer passengers than February 2020, which was a record month (pre-pandemic). We expect to see passengers numbers for March 2021 to be significantly higher than March 2020 when most air travel shut down mid-month due to COVID-19. Bookings are continuing to improve for SUN flights, and for airlines and air travel in general, as optimism and travel demand grows.

DIVERSION BUSING PROGRAM RUNS through APRIL 15 WITH COVID-19 PROTOCOLS IN PLACE While we are seeing fewer weather-related flight diversions this winter due to the new landing approach procedure, there are still times when busing is needed due to weather. This service, provided by the airlines and SUN airport, will continued to be offered with COVID-19 protocols in effect for passenger health & safety, including: Enhanced sanitizing of buses for each trip Requiring masks for all bus passengers Social distancing encouraged as feasible Get the details here Thank you to Caldwell Transportation Company for doing an excellent job providing this service to our SUN passengers!

TRAVEL UPDATES for AIR TRAVELER HEALTH & SAFETY Increased personal health safety in this era of COVID-19 is important to both airlines and air travelers.   Masks Required on Planes, at Airports Beginning Feb 2, 2021 federal law requires passengers to wear a mask when traveling, including travel by commercial air. All SUN airlines, United, Delta and Alaska, require face masks for all passengers, crew and employees.
