Greetings,

March is Women's History Month, and Third World Newsreel is celebrating with feminist film screenings and exhibitions. Two museum exhibitions are celebrating the work of Third World Newsreel and the Newsreel collective: “Women's Work” at Vassar College's Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center and “No Master Territories” at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo. Our newly restored documentary “A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde” has been screening in New Orleans, Denver, and Canada, and will be screening at the Schomburg Center in Harlem and La Clef Cinema, a community-run venue in Paris.

New York City is celebrating Art House Cinema Week (March 20–26) with free and affordable screenings in more than 30 independent cinemas. Two of our films will be part of the celebration at Firehouse Cinema in Chinatown.

Introducing “Because of You: A History of Kilawin Kolektibo,” a powerful new documentary by Desireena Almoradie and Barbara Malaran. In 1990s New York City, a collective of queer Filipinxs defied a racist, lesbophobic world to build something radical: a safe, joyful, and loving community of their own. This is their story. Film programmers, higher education institutions, and community groups can now book screenings — perfect for Women’s History Month, AAPI Heritage Month, Pride Month, and Philippine Independence Day (June 12).

Lastly, social justice filmmakers JT Takagi (Executive Director), Tami Gold (Newsreel member), and Juan Carlos Davila (TWN Distribution) were invited to the Laura Flanders & Friends Show on PBS. Listen to the interview on YouTube.
