Workgroup Update: STARR Diversity Workgroup

As part of our Diversity Initiative we would like to make our members aware of the Black Women in Clinical Research network. Black Women in Clinical Research (BWICR) is a network for black women to connect and share knowledge in the Clinical Research Industry, founded by Danielle S. Coe. Their mission is to educate, empower, support, and help black women thrive in the clinical research industry. You can find out more here: https://bwicr.com/ and follow BWICR on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook Group and LinkedIn Group.

Another group, Latins in Clinical Research, has the sole purpose to increase Latino participation within the clinical research industry. This includes both employment in the field as well as increasing participation in clinical trials and reducing disparities overall. You can find out more here: https://www.latinosinclinicalresearch.com/. Please remember that Puerto Rico has significant capabilities for clinical trials and access to patients and is part of the US!

American Brain Coalition's Initiative for an
FDA Neuroscience Center of Excellence!
The STARR Coalition is pleased to support the American Brain Coalition's (ABC) initiative to advocate for the establishment of a Neuroscience Center of Excellence at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as part of the Cures 2.0 legislation.
The creation of a Neuroscience Center of Excellence (NCE) at the FDA will encourage innovation in the study, creation, and regulation of brain-focused therapeutics with the goal of delivering cures and better treatments to patients quickly. This initiative requires collaboration among the brain community – patient advocates, professional organizations, researchers, clinicians, academia, and industry alike – we encourage our members to make this effort a 2021 advocacy priority within your organization. The ABC has created editable resources, sample language and talking points to help make it as easy as possible for you.
Visit the ABC’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence Resource Page for more information and advocacy tools for you to use in support of this important initiative.

Together, we can make a difference -- help us support this important effort!
The STARR Coalition is partnering with thought-leaders across the industry and advocacy to create a National Call to Action to Support Mental Health Research.
