 FAMILY WEDNESDAYS in LENT
March 1 - April 5,
6 pm - 7:30 every Weds
Dinner and a time of learning suitable for all ages about some important words: freedom, hospitality, justice, truth, and love. As we were reminded during worship on January 15th, these are powerful gospel words we need to claim. Our time together will include teaching and faithful conversation. If you have a Bible of your own, we invite you to bring it (we'll have extras on hand, too). Please
sign up
online or on the Mission/Service bulletin board at church so we know how many people to prepare meals for. March 1 will also include a brief worship to mark the beginning of Lent, and ashes will be offered for those wishing to receive them.

Dinner Church
March 19
Good food, spiritual conversation and a chance to build relationships with your neighbors. Dinner church is one of the oldest expressions of church - gathering together, breaking bread, and making sense of scripture and life through conversation around the table.
Dinner and worship begin at 5:30, and we should be done by around 7:30 pm. (Would you like to help with prep and setup? Email us to be connected with the ministry team, or arrive early; we create the setting together.)
As with all McFarland UCC activities, this is cross+generational - all ages are welcome at Dinner Church.

Engaged Disciple Challenge
Our goal for this year is growing a congregation of Engaged Disciples.
We challenge YOU to
- take on an OUTWARD-FACING MISSION which has you serving your neighbor
- attend to your own SPIRITUAL GROWTH in Christian community
Not sure how to start? We are recommending a couple of core activities in the life of McFarland UCC as easy entry points.
For
outward-facing mission, try
Sundaes on Thursdays (our summer ice-cream & concert series) or
Messy Church (as a helper/minister). Both of these have one-time, short-term or longer-term ways to serve your neighbor. When you commit, we'll be in touch for a conversation.
For
spiritual development, try
Family Wednesdays in Lent (see above) or
Messy Church (as a participant). Both of these are open to persons of all ages, and are intended to have multiple generations interacting. Our definition of "family" is expansive. Bring chosen family, join church family, or make family from those you meet at McFarland UCC.
We believe that it is possible for persons from preschool through senior citizen to be engaged disciples, and we are committed to finding ways to make it possible. If you are willing to join the Engaged Disciples Challenge, we have commitment cards available at church (or email us with your intent to join the challenge, and which activities you plan to commit to).
