Hello MASWA Members!
I feel Spring in the air even though we always get snow for the Boy's High School Basketball Tournaments.  Perhaps this year the snow will skip over us without dropping a single snowflake.  We can dream, can't we?

It was great to see so many of you at the February membership meeting.  The speaker was great and I learned a lot about dementia. As a follow-up to that meeting, I was sent an email inviting all of us to a one CEU educational presentation focusing on communication with those individuals with dementia:

Katie Radford, a member of the MN Alzheimer's Association Young Champions, provided the information regarding this educational opportunity:

Our featured speakers are VP of Education Debbie Richman (of the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer's Association) to lead a discussion on techniques for effective communication with individuals suffering from dementia, and Neuropsychologist
Dr. Terry Barclay (of HealthPartners) for a general Q & A session.

To register or to find out more information, go to our EventBrite page athttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/think-a-drink-communication-strategies-and-neuropsychologist-qa-tickets-31763257759

Or, you can reach Katie Radford, Education & Volunteer Co-Chair, MN Alzheimer's Association Young Champions, at 651-503-4116 for more information.

Our March board meeting was spent discussing this year's charity donation and recipients.  As a board, we believe the donation would create a larger impact for small neighborhood organizations that work directly with seniors in our community.  We will narrow down the recipients at our April board meeting.

Again, many thanks for your suggestions.

I'm off to Hawaii this Friday (3/10) for a little vacation.  I will look forward to seeing all of you at the April membership meeting.  Judy Decker, President Elect, will host the March membership meeting.
