March 2019

Congratulations to the first group of owner-builders in Mission Gardens, San Miguel
who received keys to their new homes on March 8.
President/CEO John Fowler with Senator Dianne Feinstein in DC

There's no more beautiful time to visit our nation's capital than when the cherry blossoms are in bloom and no more valuable time than when you have the chance to gather with housing policy-makers and thought leaders.

The NeighborWorks Executive Directors Symposium, hosted this year by NeighborWorks CEO Marietta Rodriguez annually brings together those leading the charge in addressing the escalating housing crisis.  The gathering gave me both the honor of meeting Senator Dianne Feinstein and the opportunity to hear fiscal strategies from California State Treasurer Fiona Ma.  I additionally had the pleasure of listening to  the longest-serving Democrat in the current  116th Congress Senator Patrick Leahy. Each official gave a heartfelt perspective on the challenge and the promise of continued resources.

On some days, the challenges we face regarding housing can seem insurmountable, but after being in the same room with so many visionary, energized housing professionals, I know our joint efforts will eventually prevail.
