Hair-licious at the Oscars!

The Red Carpet's Most Glamorous Hair Trends

This Awards Season brought a lot of glamour to the red carpet between the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Grammy's and finally the Academy Awards. Despite the rainy weather celebrities rocked beautiful, eye-catching hairstyles. Styles spanned Hollywood's Golden Age with classic coifs to today's modern, relaxed up-do's and half up-do's and soft, cascading curls. As always, you can use Surface Hair Care's lineup of award winning products to recreate each of these celebrity 'do's.

TEXTURED PIXIE CUT

Zendaya rocked a short, edgy choppy look on the red carpet. To get the look, prep hair with Trinity Protein Cream. The cream helps strengthen and smooth hair and provides thermal protection if heat styling. Once you have applied the cream, let air dry or heat style. For texture and a firm yet flexible hold, apply Texture Paste to your 'do. Dry detail as desired. To finish off the look, apply Push Powder to your roots, which creates a boost of volume and adds extra hold.

FLOWING WAVES

Keira Knightly was a vision of wavy perfection at the Oscars. To get this flowing look, prep hair with Curls Shampoo and Curls Conditioner. The products contain Cocoa Butter for healthy curls and Babassu Seed oil to hydrate. Next, apply a generous amount of Curl Whip Mousse and Awaken Mist to damp hair and let air dry or diffuse. The mousse creates gorgeous curls while the mist thickens fine hair and detangles.

CLASSIC UPDO

Julianne Moore wore a simple, yet elegant updo at the Oscars. To get her look, prep hair with Trinity Protein Cream, which contains Amaranth Protein and Bassu Oil to smooth and strengthen hair. For an all day and night hold, use Theory Firm Styling Spray. To finish off your look with a boost of shine, use Bassu Shine Spray.

What do you love about Surface and why?

The thing I love the most about Surface is the on-going education they provide. Surface not only educates the stylist but also extends that knowledge to the salon owners, which can definitely have a positive impact on growth for their business.

What is the best part about belonging to the Surface family?

Family is one of the most important things in life. Without family, life isn't as rewarding. We are delighted to be a part of the Surface family. Collectively, we are able to contribute and give back to great organizations such as World Vision. Together we are able to make a BIG difference and that isn't always easy to do in this fast-paced world.

What is your favorite Surface product?

The Awaken Line is our top seller. It has given so many men and women more confidence in their daily routine. When they style their hair, they can feel the difference. It is like life has been infused back into their hair. It has the ability to "fatten" up their hair and let it be lush in just a small amount of time.

What are your clients' favorite Surface products?

Another favorite product is the Trinity Protein Spray. It has saved the lives of many blondes out there! It has the gift to bring hair back from a very fragile stage and completely change the integrity of their hair. Seeing is believing and it is nothing short of amazing.

How have you encompassed Surface into your life and business?

I've embraced Surface with open arms both in my professional life and my personal one. I personally like to look good and feel good and I love to help others do the same. Every product in this company allows me to achieve this goal because they provide superior professional products.

How has Surface changed you as a person?

Surface has opened a new world to my stylist and me. It has made us have several "Ah-ha" moments. So often in life I think we are in a hurry and don't take the time to stop and ask important questions "What's in this?" "What isn't in this?" "Is this good for me?" With other companies once you start asking those questions you might not like the answers. With Surface the products are safe. Safe to breathe in, and safe to be absorbed through our skin and hair without harmful side effects to our health. The ingredients are plant derived, organic and natural. The products are also free of dyes, sulfates and other unhealthy things that are industry "standard." Surface goes above and beyond "standard" and does what is right for our health and the planet.

How does using Surface products make you feel?

Using surface makes me feel proud and confident in my services not only as a stylist but also as an owner. I know that we have a top-quality product that delivers everything it promises and it is very rewarding for all involved.

What does Surface mean to you?

Surface products are a way to give people a product that delivers to the fullest. It also provides us as a salon with new and innovative products to help educate us as stylists and to help educate our clientele. I believe it comes full circle and makes a positive and constructive difference in life.
