Good Neighbor Authority Resources Webpage

The Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC) is excited to announce the release of a Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) Information and Resources webpage.

The webpage will serve as a western repository of relevant, timely GNA resources for western state forestry agencies, federal agencies, and partners
True Cost of Wildfire RFP - Deadline Extended

The Council of Western State Foresters (CWSF) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to complete the second iteration of WFLC's True Cost of Wildfire report that will include a full accounting of costs associated with wildfire in the West. The end result of this project will be a report that brings new understanding to the concept of valuation as it applies to wildfire. 

Proposals for the expansion of the True Cost of Wildfire report are now being accepted through April 2, 2021.
Member and Partner Updates

Frank Beum accepted the position of Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region. Beum is scheduled to begin on April 12.

Sylvia Bierman accepted the position of Director for State & Private Forestry & Tribal Relations for the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region.

Rick Cooksey accepted the position of Director for Forest Health Protection for the USDA Forest Service in Washington, D.C. Cooksey previously served as Acting Director for the staff.

Michiko Martin accepted the position of Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Southwestern Region. Martin previously served as Director of Recreation, Heritage and Volunteer Resources in Washington, D.C.

Policy Update
In response to the ongoing health and economic crises due to the COVID-19 pandemic, another relief and stimulus bill was signed into law. This month also saw the reintroduction of the Invasive Species Prevention and Forest Restoration Act, the Funding Our Roads and Ecosystems Sustainably Together (FOREST) Act, and the Repairing Existing Public Land by Adding Necessary Trees (REPLANT) Act.
