When Jillian Wolford first heard about Hands4Hope through her track teammates at Union Mine High School, she decided to give the club a try. Two years and 167+ service hours later, she’s now her on-campus club’s President and just finished leading Operations for the Empty Bowls Dinner. From finding the confidence to speak in front of large crowds to strengthening her leadership and time management skills, Jillian shares how Hands4Hope has shaped who she is today, and why she encourages others to get involved.

Adult Volunteer Training Opportunity

Have you ever thought about becoming an Adult Volunteer with Hands4Hope? Or maybe you already are one? Hands4Hope is offering an Adult Volunteer Training session, designed for volunteers serving as Adult Leads and/or Mentors, both new and long-time, to come together to grow their Positive Youth Development skills through practical tools, shared language, and deeper understanding of youth-adult partnerships. You're invited!

We are delighted to welcome Matt Hinkle to the Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference Board of Directors. In his professional life, Matt is Head of Global Operations at Franklin Templeton. We are grateful for the expertise he brings to the board, with his broad professional background and his personal perspectives as a Hands4Hope parent. He says, "The youth in this organization are doing some impressive work to improve their world, and engaging with the organization is a great way to help to enable that to continue and help them grow as leaders."

New Outreach Opportunity: Mercy White Rock Village

We are excited to announce our renewed partnership with Mercy White Rock Village in El Dorado Hills! Starting in March, Hands4Hope youth will have the opportunity to volunteer at the White Rock Village After-School Club on Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm. Participants will lead games and activities, help with homework, distribute snacks, do light cleaning, and provide extra supervision. This opportunity is open to high school age youth.

Meeting the Community and Youth in South Lake Tahoe

The expansion of Hands4Hope programs into South Lake Tahoe continues! In the past few months, Hands4Hope staff, South Lake Tahoe Steering Committee members, and youth representatives have presented about Hands4Hope and introduced its programs through engagements at Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board, Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra, Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, at South Tahoe High School's spring term welcome event, and staff meetings at both schools. Information meetings for interested South Tahoe Middle and High School students will take place on campus on March 17, and outreach opportunities are on track to begin this summer.

We are now hiring for our new South Tahoe Program Coordinator staff position. Please share this opportunity with anyone who might be able to find the right candidate!

We’re excited to shine a spotlight on Dignity Health, our newest Visionary Sponsor! Why did they choose Hands4Hope? "By investing in Hands4Hope, Dignity Health hopes to help cultivate well-informed, compassionate citizens who learn about social fairness and health equity from an early age." Read on to learn more about how this healthcare leader is partnering with Hands4Hope to empower youth, inspire service, and build a healthier, more compassionate community.
