Bill Payment Assistance – How Much Money is Out There?
The COVID-19 pandemic caused hundreds of thousands of Ohioans, and millions of Americans, to lose their jobs or businesses. This meant families couldn’t pay for the necessities: food, rent or mortgages, utilities, and health care. 

The government has stepped up, though not always in a timely fashion, and has provided significant funding to meet these basic needs.
AEP Ohio Files Rate Case Settlement; OPAE Will Litigate

Rate cases take a long time to process through the system. AEP submitted a Pre-Filing Notice as required by rule on April 29, 2020, with the Application to set new base rates filed on June 1, 2020. At that point, discovery started and the Staff began preparation of a Staff Report, which was released on November 25, 2020, six months later. Settlement talks started in January, culminating in a stipulation filed on March 12, 2021.
HB 6 Repealed, Sort Of

The General Assembly bolted out of Columbus on March 25th, patting themselves on the back for passing legislation to repeal portions of the notorious HB 6. Even still-Rep. Larry Householder voted for the bill. SB 124 is a partial repeal, and it’s telling what it repeals and what it doesn’t repeal. It does end the nuclear subsidies.
