Honoring Women Pioneers in the Fight Against Domestic Violence

This Women's History Month, we celebrate the courageous women who paved the way for the domestic violence movement. From Erin Pizzey, who opened the world's first women's refuge, to Ellen Pence, whose groundbreaking Duluth Model reshaped how society addresses abuse—these pioneers laid the foundation for the services and advocacy we have today.

Pence's Duluth Model was one of the first programs to center on survivors' voices and address the systemic nature of domestic violence. A key component of this model is the Power and Control Wheel, a tool still widely used today to help survivors and advocates identify patterns of abuse and understand that abuse is not just physical—it's about control.

Their determination inspires our work toward a safer, more just future for all.

We're counting down to our Community Breakfast Fundraiser — a morning to come together in support of survivors.

We're honored to welcome Ginette Bott, President & CEO of Utah Food Bank, as our keynote speaker. With over 25 years of service to Utah Food Bank, in addition to overseeing the statewide operations, she’s the organization’s key media spokesperson and directly oversees public and government relations. Under her leadership, Utah Food Bank has expanded its outreach and continues to play a pivotal role in addressing hunger across the state.

As a survivor and leader, Ginette’s story is a powerful reminder that when we show up for our neighbors and friends, we strengthen our entire community.

Join us for this inspiring event because creating violence-free futures starts with all of us.

February was a busy month for our Education Team as we worked to raise awareness and empower youth during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. From leading workshops in Tooele and Salt Lake to collaborating with amazing community partners, we made important strides in prevention education.

Catch up with our Education Director, Abe, and his team, who worked hard to break through barriers, engage students, and create meaningful conversations about healthy relationships.
