Equitas Health - New Health Center and Pharmacy in Walnut Hills!
Equitas Health, a regional nonprofit community healthcare system, is set to open its newest community health center and pharmacy in Walnut Hills later this month. The agency currently operates two primary care centers in Columbus and one in Dayton. The Walnut Hills location is Equitas Health’s first center in Cincinnati.

“We are thrilled to bring our award-winning model of affordable care to this thriving city,” said Equitas Health President & CEO Bill Hardy. “We are here to stay in Walnut Hills, and we want to be your provider of choice.”

Founded in 1984, Equitas Health originated as an AIDS service organization and has expanded to offer quality, affordable primary care, counseling, psychiatry, and pharmacy services. Specialties include women’s health, chronic disease management (including HIV, diabetes, high blood pressure) HIV/STI testing and treatment, birth control, smoking cessation, and PrEP.

The Equitas Health Cincinnati Medical Center and Pharmacy is located at 2805 Gilbert Ave. The pharmacy is open to the community and reinvests all profits back into the agency’s affordable healthcare services.

Equitas Health accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans. They also have a sliding fee scale for uninsured and underinsured patients, unless prohibited by insurance contracts. To make an appointment, call (513) 815-4475 or visit
Soapbox and Groundsource
Soapbox has partnered with the Walnut Hills neighborhood to create our own community-driven narrative. Over the course of eight weeks the On the Ground Community Newsroom hosted events at Caffe Vivace in Walnut Hills and residents and organizations brought to light stories happening “On the Ground.” Read all of the installments here . The last Community Newsroom event will be at Caffe Vivace on 3/20 from 4-6!
Soapbox is also running an information-gathering program using a text-communication tool called Groundsource . They want to hear from Walnut Hills residents directly through a series of short questions and answers via text, to understand what their grocery shopping habits are since the area became a food desert. Residents can text “HELLO” to 513-230-6899 to begin the survey and assist Soapbox in gathering this food access information.
