Greetings from Council Member Mike Knox
At Large Council Member Pos 1
On Wednesday, April 4 th, Houston City Council is expected to vote on the Mayor’s proposed revisions to Chapter 19 related to the floodplain elevation requirements. While everyone agrees that something must be done differently than we have in the past, I am concerned that, out of an abundance of emotion, the City may be engaging in over regulation. I am further concerned about the impact these changes will have on the affordability of housing in Houston and the potential conflict between the City ordinance and deed restricted neighborhoods. I have not yet been convinced that the data Council has been provided is complete. While the Mayor’s proposals will have an impact in future years, these changes will not benefit any existing structure.

As always, I welcome your comments on this or any other matter. Please contact me at [email protected].
I spent time with folks in Sunnyside discussing gang activity, mental health, and the availability of community resources. The discussion was robust, candid and we all learned a lot. Thanks to Pastor Nash for hosting at St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church.
Attending the grand reopening of Fire Station #32 which received a make over after having been out of commission for quite some time. The community welcomed the fire teams back to their old stomping grounds in northeast Houston. Even though the station was out of commission at the time, it played a critical role in serving as a staging site during Hurricane Harvey.
I was keynote speaker for the 23rd annual Crime Stoppers' Conference this year. I spoke on topics of gangs and how the audience could impact and reduce the likelihood of gang activity in their schools, communities, and their homes.

Northside High School visits with CM Knox about how elected officials can help students develop their community service project focused on improving community safety and increasing police presence in their neighborhoods. The goal is to raise awareness of the issues facing the community, as well as providing our students an opportunity to use their voice to enact change.
President Donald Trump welcomed the Houston Astros to the White House on Monday, March 12, 2018. "To all of the players and the management of the Houston Astros, I want to say thanks for being true champions on and off the field," Trump said during a half-hour ceremony in the East Room. "You really exemplify what greatness is all about. And it's a credit to the players here today."
He also praised the club for its efforts in helping the city of Houston overcome the damage caused last summer by Hurricane Harvey.

Council Member Larry Green was so proud of his district and fought hard for everyone in District K. We are holding CM Green's family in our prayers. "I've come to rely on CM Green to be among the most fair and bi-partisan Council Members on Houston City Council. Someone interested in the citizens of his district and city before anything else. I will miss his presence on Council. "
First home game at Minute Maid Park is April 2 against the Orioles.
