Welcoming March at Tahoma Northwest: A Season for Sowing Seeds of Wellness

As March arrives, we step into a season of renewal—a time when longer days and signs of spring invite us to plant new seeds of hope, healing, and growth. At Tahoma Northwest, we believe that wellness blooms strongest when nurtured in community, and peer support plays a vital role in that journey.

This month, we’re celebrating the small steps that lead to big change. Whether someone is beginning their mental health journey or tending to the roots they’ve already planted, peer support creates space for connection, understanding, and shared strength. Just as new growth needs sunlight and care, each of us benefits from support, compassion, and the reminder that we’re not alone.

Here’s to a month of growth, renewal, and walking alongside one another as we cultivate wellness together.

Women’s History Month Spotlight

March is a time to honor the strength, vision, and resilience of women who have shaped our history and continue to push our communities forward. From trailblazers who broke barriers to the everyday leaders who inspire through compassion and courage, we celebrate the invaluable contributions women make in every sphere of life. Let’s continue championing equity, elevating women’s voices, and creating space for future generations of women to lead, thrive, and change the world.

Celebrate the women in your life this month and learn more about changemakers of our past.

Tahoma Northwest Is Launching a Washington State Fathers Network Chapter!

We’re excited to share that Tahoma Northwest is officially launching a local chapter of the Washington State Fathers Network. This new chapter will create space for fathers of children with special health or developmental needs to connect, share experiences, and build strength together.

As we begin this journey, we’ll be offering dedicated groups for fathers, along with special events and gatherings designed to foster connection, support, and empowerment. Our goal is to honor the unique experiences of fathers and create a supportive community where no one has to navigate their path alone.

More details will be coming soon—we can’t wait to grow this community with you.

The Peer Review New Episode

The Peer Review Podcast

Host: Kahlil DeRouen

  • Ep. 2 Justice for Giovanni

After a brief pause between Episodes 1 and 2, we’re back today with a brand‑new installment of Justice for Giovanni. In this episode, my first guest, Jessica, joins me for a thoughtful peer review of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. Together, we explore emotional fortitude, the many ways we express ourselves, and how Baldwin’s work opens the door to both.

Fun fact: today’s guest also happens to be my fiancé—which makes this conversation all the more special.

St. Patrick’s Day in America became far more festive than its Irish origins. What began as a quiet religious feast in Ireland transformed into a lively celebration in the U.S., where Irish immigrants in the 18th and 19th centuries turned March 17 into a proud display of cultural identity with parades, music, and all things green.
