Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States for both men and women. In 2023, over 150,000 Americans were diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Good news is, colorectal cancer (CRC) can be prevented with proper screening. Colonoscopy screenings have helped reduce CRC deaths in people over 65. Recognizing how helpful this is, we now suggest starting screening at age 45. If you're at low risk, you might even qualify for a simple at home test. Non-invasive testing, like sending in a stool sample, can detect and remove polyps before they become cancerous, potentially saving lives.
