Spring VegFest is June 7

Presented by Feel Bar

Just three months to go until our largest event of the year! Join us on Sunday, June 7, from 10am to 4pm for Spring VegFest at Eastern Market. We're bringing back your favorite food trucks and vendors, plus sprinkling in some new ones, along with great presenters and cooking demos. Don't miss out on this amazing day of plant-based food, community, and inspiration! Check the VegFest page in the coming months for details.

Please support our Title Sponsor, Feel Bar. They help make VegFest possible, and Feel Bar is a Michigan-based small business that uses high-quality, plant-based ingredients. Shop their website today.

Membership Drive & Generous Match

Thanks to the 26 members who joined or renewed in February, inching us further toward our goal of 400 members! Your support has double the impact, thanks to the generous support of Ramesh and Maya Dedhia, who are graciously matching all VegMichigan memberships, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000! Please support our work to host or participate in more than 100 events this year and reach thousands of Michiganders with the benefits of plant-based eating. Thank you for making this work possible!

Meet VegMichigan's Newest Staff Member

Join us in sending a warm welcome to Megan Jalynski, VegMichigan's new Program Coordinator. Megan will help with outreach efforts by tabling at events, hosting meetups, coordinating the 30-Day Plant-Based Pledge Program, offering food samples, overseeing volunteer coordination, and assisting with plant-based festivals. Megan previously worked with the Center for Biological Diversity on its “Take Extinction Off Your Plate” initiative, which encourages plant-based eating, and authored the report A Recipe for Climate Disaster: How Food Outlets Dish Out Climate-Intensive Cuisine.

She was an active volunteer with the Sierra Club, where she has advocated for plant-based eating as a way to protect biodiversity and free land for rewilding through initiatives such as tabling, contributing to discussion groups, and helping design presentations. Megan has also practiced herbalism through her business, Earthkin, crafting garden-grown tea blends and tinctures and leading educational workshops.

Enjoy delicious slices from a local pizzeria, connect with others in the community, and discover how easy (and tasty!) plant-based eating can be. Whether you’re fully plant-based or just curious, everyone is welcome—come hungry and bring a friend!

We are asking VegMichigan supporters who are able to contribute a recommended $10 - $15 donation to offset the cost of the event and allow attendees new to plant-based eating to sample the pizza for free. Share Your Reasons for Being Plant-Based

Share your favorite reasons for eating plant-based foods and get featured on the VegMichigan social media channels! We want to hear from our community about the many reasons you love plant-based eating. Share your reasons to help encourage others to eat more plant-based meals themselves! Does it improve your health in a specific way? Is there an environmental issue that it helps with that is especially meaningful to you? Do you have a special connection to an animal(s) that influenced you? Are there plant-based recipes or restaurants you love more than anything else? Something else? We want to hear about it! Send your reasons to olivia@vegmichigan.org, and we will be in touch!
