Covenant Pediatric Wellness Center Remains Open | | |
We want to take a moment to clarify an important distinction.
While Covenant Pediatrics (our pediatric medical practice) will be closing on March 5, 2026, Covenant Pediatric Wellness Center will not be closing and will not change in any way.
All chiropractic, functional nutrition, and wellness services will continue as scheduled. Our team remains fully in place, and we are actively seeing established patients and welcoming new families.
We understand that the similarity in our practice names may have caused some confusion, and we appreciate your patience as we’ve worked to communicate clearly.
It is our honor to care for you and your family.

| Covenant Pediatrics Closure & Medical Records Information | | |
|
Covenant Pediatrics will permanently close on March 5, 2026. This applies only to the medical pediatrics practice, not Covenant Wellness.
We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our families and want to provide clear guidance on accessing your child’s medical records and final care needs.
| | |
| |
Medical Records
- Many records are available through the patient portal.
- Portal access will remain available for 30 days following closure (through early April).
To request records, please email: Brittany@CovenantWellness.net
Kindly allow up to 30 days for processing.
|
Prescription Refills
-
All prescription refill requests must be submitted by March 5, 2026.
- Refills will not be issued after the practice has closed.
- We encourage families to download or request any needed records and to establish care with a new pediatric provider if you have not already done so, to ensure continuity of care. We are grateful for the opportunity to have been part of your child’s care.

March Livestream
Heather is an advocate of mental health and works in youth suicide prevention.
Shs is also a single mom of Benson, 12, and Leo, 9, in Kansas City.
Benson is a 7th grader who loves playing percussion (especially drums) and collecting rocks. He's in the gifted program and acts like a forty-year-old with a mortgage.
Leo is a shy, light-hearted 3rd grader who loves collecting squishmallows, playing Sonic, giving the biggest hugs, and quietly observing others.
We have spent 3 years struggling through the challenges of what I call the toxic gaslighting and misinformation of the complex kids cycle in the medical and mental health spheres, until finally working with Dr. Sonia to get realistic answers, proper treatment, and being able to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

| | Beyond “Fine”: Functional Answers for Complex Adults | | |
Many adults come to Covenant Wellness with the same opening line: “I’m fine… but I don’t feel good.”
They’re functioning. They’re working. They’re parenting. They’re pushing through. But they’re also exhausted, inflamed, uncomfortable, and not feeling like themselves.
In conventional medicine, “fine” often means labs are in range, and nothing dangerous is happening. But “fine” does not mean optimal. It does not mean well-rested, hormonally balanced, digesting well, or feeling clear and resilient.
The Symptoms Adults Bring to Us
The concerns we hear most often include:
- fatigue and malaise
- digestive issues (constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating)
- hormone dysregulation, PMS, perimenopause, and menopause symptoms
- food sensitivities and allergies
- skin issues like eczema or rashes
- brain fog, mood changes, and irritability
Interestingly, many of these are the same patterns we see in complex kids.
| | |
Why “Normal Labs” Aren’t Always Reassuring
Many adults are told their labs are “normal,” yet they still don’t feel well. Reference ranges are designed to identify disease, not early dysfunction. Functional nutrition looks at patterns, system interactions, and suboptimal function long before things become severe.
How We Evaluate Complex Adults
At Covenant Wellness, we use a similar approach with adults as we do with complex kids. We look at the gut, immune system, metabolism, hormones, mitochondria, and detox pathways to understand what’s driving symptoms.
Common tools include:
- Metabolomix
- Comprehensive Stool Analysis
- Food allergy and sensitivity panels
- Hormone panels
The goal is not just to collect data, but to interpret it meaningfully and turn it into an actionable plan.
Why Interpretation Matters
Many adults have already had testing. What they’re missing is clarity. Understanding how systems overlap, which imbalances are primary, and what to address first is where real progress happens.
Functional Care Isn’t Just for Kids
We are known for our work with complex children, but we also work extensively with adults who are tired of being dismissed, minimized, or told that feeling unwell is just part of life. You deserve the same level of investigation, thoughtfulness, and care.
If You’re “Fine” but Not Well…
That matters. Your body is communicating. Your symptoms are not random. And there is a way to listen. At Covenant Wellness, we help adults uncover what’s driving their symptoms and build a plan that supports real healing—not just coping.
| | How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Works | | |
Increased Oxygenation
Breathing oxygen under pressure significantly increases the amount of oxygen delivered to muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, and the brain—supporting tissues that are under stress or injured.
How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Supports Athletes
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is increasingly used to support athletic recovery, performance, and injury healing—from youth athletes to professionals. During HBOT, an individual breathes pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This allows oxygen to dissolve directly into the blood plasma, delivering higher levels of oxygen to tissues throughout the body—including areas with limited circulation.
| |
Enhanced Tissue Repair
Oxygen fuels healing. HBOT supports collagen production and stimulates the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), helping damaged tissues repair more efficiently.
Reduced Inflammation
HBOT can help reduce inflammation and swelling, often leading to reduced pain and an earlier, safer return to movement and training.
Stem Cell Activation
Hyperbaric oxygen has been shown to stimulate the release of stem cells, which play a key role in tissue regeneration and repair.
Key Benefits for Athletes
- Faster Injury Recovery
- Supports healing of muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendonitis, and bone injuries.
- Concussion & Brain Support
- May help reduce neuroinflammation and support recovery following concussions or other traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
- Enhanced Performance & Recovery
- Improved oxygen delivery at the cellular level can support endurance, aerobic capacity, and overall cellular efficiency.
- Reduced Muscle Soreness
- Helps clear metabolic byproducts such as lactic acid and ammonia, reducing post-exercise fatigue and soreness.
Common Uses in Athletic Care
• Acute injuries (strains, sprains, tears)
• Chronic overuse injuries (tendonitis, joint pain)
• Concussion recovery
• Supporting connective tissue resilience and injury prevention
Why Athletes Use HBOT
HBOT doesn’t replace training, rehabilitation, or medical care—it enhances the body’s ability to heal and recover by improving oxygen delivery at a cellular level. When tissues heal more efficiently, athletes can return to activity stronger, more resilient, and better supported.
