Joan Sinatra Hathaway

Joan will be teaching two workshops at Creative Connections in March and one in April.

Follow Creative Connections on Facebook for more information and to register.

Saturday March 14 2-5pm

Books as Sculptures

In this workshop, participants will learn how to make creative book structures that stretch the imagination of what we think a book can be. Books can be sculptural forms with innovative folding and gluing techniques.  Quotes, music lyrics, and poems can be incorporated that reflect the structure of the book. A variety of structures will be made, including a House Book, a Star Book, and a Turkish Map Book. All structures can be easily completed using basic bookbinding tools and papers.

Saturday March 29th 2-5pm

Painted Paper Workshop

This workshop will enable participants to try a variety of techniques to create painted papers for future collage, book, and journaling projects.A rich variety of colors, texture, and different painted effects can be created to create customized, unique papers in each student's personal style. Techniques will include watercolor washes, paste paper, acrylic paints, stencils and stamps.

One-day workshop, three hours.

All materials included.

Saturday April 25 2-5pm
