Emerging Needs Grants
The United Way staff and board are pleased to announce the approval of two new Emerging Needs grants to support Nesting Incorporated and Hope Unlimited Incorporated. Nesting will utilize the funds to assist older community members by offering volunteer peer support, enabling them to remain in their homes for as long as they wish, safely and securely.
Meanwhile, Hope Unlimited will conduct outreach in Woodson County to connect the community with the Child Visitation Center and other available family services. We eagerly anticipate the outcomes of this funding and the positive impact it will have on the lives of those served by these organizations.
KVOE Live Morning Drive Radio Auction
Our annual fundraiser, the KVOE Live Morning Drive Radio Auction, recently celebrated its 5th year and achieved remarkable success, raising over $3500 for United Way of the Flint Hills programs! This accomplishment was made possible by the generosity of our donors, who provided fantastic items for auction, as well as KVOE, a steadfast supporter of the United Way. We are immensely grateful for the support of our community and events like this, as they enable us to continue our vital work.
With Tax Day around the corner, it’s a good time to highlight the costliest mistakes that tax experts say we make in filing our taxes. Since 2009, United Way has helped some 1.3 million people nationwide save $260 million in filing fees, and bring back more than $1.9 billion in refunds to local communities through MyFreeTaxes.com.

MyFreeTaxes is the largest free, online tax filing product offered by a nonprofit. United Way makes this service available as part of our fight for the financial stability of every person in every community.
On Wednesday, United Way participated in the Morris County Community Baby Shower. New moms and moms to be in Chase and Morris County came to learn about safe sleep, local resources and received helpful items for their babies, a sleep sack, pack n play, a baby blanket and diapers.

We will also be at the Lyon County Baby Shower on Wednesday, March 27th and Family Fun Fest Coffey County Library Burlington Branch on Saturday, April 6th.
