Greetings!
Winter's ending, clocks move forward, warm sunshine, longer days! Flowers will poke out and birds will sing, helping cure the winter blues. Spring cleaning & clutter clearing would be a wise and uplifting effort! "New Beginnings."
We've had a home in Key West Florida for 1.5 years, and spend most of the winter there. When we stopped skiing, outdoor activities were few and the cold shorter days were not uplifting, so we headed south. We have a lovely small cottage on a canal about 10 miles north of Key West. We drive into town, jam with live bands, eat at great restaurants and dig the "vibe" of Key West.
I visited KW in the early 70's, when local dogs still roamed the main streets and disgruntled city professionals flocked there to paint, make jewelry, make music, chill out, and hide from the law (and relatives). Plenty of chillin' going on. Music, drinking, partying, hanging out, drugs (smuggling, dealing) eventually "crashing & burning" and recovering on hammocks under ceiling fans. Key West got trendy in the 70's when Calvin Klein moved in, (chastised for not building in the Key West style). I had moved into Manhattan with my 1st husband in the 70's (a very tacky time in NYC). Soon we found we needed to escape to Florida in the winter (kept our NYC apartment, of course). We lived in Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando (too hot). We chose to go to Key West to get away from the NYC intensity or the Florida local/crazy. When I needed to get away, I'd jump into my cool Chevy van (bed in the back) with my dogs and drive south to Key West. Years later Butch and I vacationed there. Jeannie soon joined us for the New Year's celebration, but when CNN came to town it got too crazy with crowds, so we changed from New Year's Eve to school breaks.
We hoped we could purchase a house, but prices were high. One year we almost opened a restaurant in Key West with an apartment above. Saved up, got serious and searched on a few keys (islands) nothing of town. We found a cottage in 2023, 10 minutes from town: affordable, fully furnished on a canal with a dock, our piece of Paradise for sure. We use Feng Shui principles to clear and create our healing, rejuvenating haven. Working for Ripley-Grier, it is our Key West office for the RG Community, back and forth to NY (fly direct). Our main goals these days are to finish Ripley-Grier Studios' covid recovery, stay healthy, active, engaged, support family, friends, staff, and clients to achieve their dreams and aspirations. The Year of the Wood Snake growing new skin (renew efforts).
Better and better, Patricia

Hi everyone!
We had another successful year at BroadwayCon and we're already planning our booth for next year. I had a great time meeting everyone and seeing cool cosplays!
Since January I've seen 4 Broadway shows and 4 concerts. I saw Oh, Mary! right before Cole Escola left along with most of the other original cast members. It was a very funny play play with strong performances from everyone and I'm glad to hear that the cast will reunite in April!
I caught the play All In before it closed at Hudson Theatre. The 4 main cast members would change every week, and the actors I saw were Lin-Manuel Miranda, Annaleigh Ashford, Tim Meadows, and David Cross. It was an interesting concept with some funny stories and a meaningful ending.
Operation Mincemeat has been running in London for a while now and I've been eager to see it, so when I found out it was coming to Broadway with the original West End cast I was thrilled. I saw one of the first preview performances and I really enjoyed it! There was a malfunction with the set towards the end causing us to have to wait about 15 minutes before they eventually had to cut the scene short and move on. So I'm looking forward to seeing it again and finding out what was supposed to happen. I thought the cast was hilarious and I was so impressed with their performances! You could tell they had been doing this show together for a while and that made it more enjoyable.
To finish up the month I saw Harry Potter again so I could see Matthew James Thomas as Harry Potter. I had seen him twice as Spider-Man in Turn Off the Dark on Broadway back in 2011 and 2012 and loved his performance so much that I've been following his work ever since. I had seen Harry Potter before, but I was just as amazed with the set and the effects as I was the first time.
My first concert of the year was La La Land in Concert at Carnegie Hall. The composer for the film, Justin Hurwitz, conducted an orchestra live while the movie was playing behind them. La La Land is my favorite movie and Justin Hurwitz is one of my favorite composers!
Another one of my favorite composers is Hans Zimmer and I got to see him live at the Barclays Center a few days later. All of the musicians on stage with him were incredible, and they played songs and suites from Interstellar, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Inception, Dune, No Time To Die, The Lion King, and more.
The last 2 concerts I went to in February were Jack White and Foster the People, both at the Brooklyn Paramount. It was my first time seeing Jack White in 10 years and my first time seeing Foster the People. Both concerts were great and the Brooklyn Paramount is quickly becoming one of my favorite concert venues!
Until next month, Jeannie
