Greetings!

Don't miss our next meeting, Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m. in the large cafeteria at Seneca.  There are lots of activities in the spring and lots of opportunities for you to be involved.  Come and lend your support.
1963 Basketball Champions to be Honored
The 50th anniversary of the Seneca 1963 Championship Basketball Team is to be commemorated on March 10 at halftime of the 2013 Boys Championship Basketball Game in Rupp Arena.  If you know one of these players, coaches or anyone involved with the team encourage them to attend.  Make it a party and come support your 1963 Redskins!  Get all the details here.

Band News
The Band's Spring Festival and Giant Yard Sale will be Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event will feature food and craft booths -- admission is $1.  Rent for a 10-by-10-foot booth starts at $25 -- for more information, call the band room at 485-8017.  You can also drop off any items you would like to donate on Friday, March 8 between 5:00 and 8:00 at the gym.

Don't forget to come out to support the band at the pre-KMEA concert, March 19, 6-8pm in the large gym.  The Seneca band will perform along with several middle school groups.  This will help prepare them for the graded competion at Atherton for KMEA on March 26th at 3:45.

Do you need entertainment for your get-together?  Consider using the Seneca Jazz Ensemble.  They are available for performances with a donation to the Seneca Instrumental Music Association.  Contact Alana Auslander-Price at 485-8017.
Gardening Classes Offered
Bethany Mattingly will be offering gardening classes to students, alumni and community members on Saturday, March 23.  There are three classes to choose from or you might enjoy all three!  Details are on the website here.  Just make sure you email Bethany Mattingly to let her know which classes you would like to attend by March 8th.
Mock Trial a Success!
Jefferson County Schools produce a county-wide newsletter called the Monday Memo.  Seneca's pre-Law students were featured in the February 18th edition when they participated in a mock trial.  Seneca Alumni Doug Lamb '72 is also quoted in the article.  Check it out here.
Calling All Football Players
Seneca Past and Present is working with David Seewer '74 and Diane Drescher '74 to be able to provide Seneca with a new football stadium scoreboard.  The current scoreboard is the same one from the 1970's - and it looks like it!  If you are interested in helping with this fundraiser, contact Seneca Past and Present.

Plans are also in the works with JCPS to rename the Seneca football stadium the Ron Cain Football Stadium to honor Seneca's beloved coach.
Scholarships and Awards
The Class of 1962 is sponsoring an Essay Award for students this year.  Criteria will be available soon by contacting the Counselor's office.  This class is challenging all other reunion classes to explore these types of options to get involved with today's Seneca High School.

Seneca Past and Present will also be providing a $500 scholarship this year to one college-bound Senior.  Criteria is available from Senior Counselor Michelle Ising.
Thank You Received
Harolynn Harris recently sent a thank you to Seneca Past and Present for our donation of $500 to the Drama Department.  This money will go to offset the costs of a bus for students to travel to New York City this spring.
