March 2, National Read Across America Day, is an opportunity for kids, teachers, parents, and community members to read books and celebrate the fun of reading. Falling on Dr. Seuss's birthday, National Read Across America Day also honors diversity in readers and book choices.
Kindles for Kids

The Library has Kindles loaded with over 100 kids' books, such as Sesame Street, Pete the Cat, Frozen, and many more. Ask a staff member for more information.
Chromebooks for Checkout!

Use your library card to check out a chromebook through curbside services. Chromebooks require a gmail account for you to use Google docs or any of the Google suite. Please return chromebooks to a staff member when the library is open for curbside service.
You'll love the StudentAccess Program.

Use the StudentAccess program through the Libby App to check out ebooks from NC Kids Digital Library.
Books on the Small Screen (BoSS)

Join us for this online book club. We will read and discuss books that have inspired TV shows, some current and some upcoming. When you go to our Facebook page, click on Groups, and you can find the group and ask to join.

The March selection is Firefly Lane. Copies of book club selections are available at the library for checkout.
The Wilkes Mystery Book Club is for people who love true crime, thrillers, and all kinds of mysteries but don't have time to attend book clubs. The March selection is She Lies in Wait. Copies of each month's selection are available at the library a month in advance, or you may choose to download the eBook via the Libby App. You can join us for a book discussion virtually in our Goodreads discussion forum, https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/10661f71-wilkes-mystery-book-club, whenever you have time and no matter what you're wearing!
The RBdigital Magazines have moved to OverDrive's Libby. You can still enjoy the same great magazine collection. Install the Libby App or go to libbyapp.com to access free library ebooks, eaudiobooks, and magazines. Browse, borrow, place holds, read, and listen within the app.
For accessing most online & digital resources at the library: Use your library card number and PIN, which is the last 4 numbers of the phone number you gave us. Or, if you are a student in Wilkes County public schools, you can log in with your student ID (lunch) number and your PIN is the last 4 numbers of your student ID. Want to download an app? Use your device's App Store to install the Libby App for downloadable ebooks and audiobooks and magazines. Your institution is Appalachian Regional Library.
For our two exciting Story Walks, the Library partners with Smoot Park and W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir at the Fish Dam Creek Park walking trail.
