This month the library is displaying the best books from our collection under 200 pages. They're the perfect size to take on vacation, read on your commute, or break you out of a reading slump.

eBooks at RHEC Library
Did you know the RHEC Library provides access to over 120,000 eBooks? Here's a guide on how to find and access this collection.

Our library currently subscribes to four major eBook databases, outlined below. One method of finding eBooks you need is to go directly to the database of choice and search for the topic you're interested in.
O'Reilly for Higher Education is a digital platform with a collection of over 40,000 e-book titles, covering topics such as IT networking, project management, graphic design, business strategy, and more.

How to access: Users must provide a valid academic e-mail address (ending in .edu) to access this database. Users may access it from any location.
University Press Scholarship Online (which includes Oxford Scholarship Online) is a database featuring nearly 10,000 eBook titles published by 18 of the largest university and academic publishers. Subjects covered include political science, religion. philosophy, sociology, history, law, literature, and more.

How to access: if you're using the RHEC network, via wired connection or wi-fi, you automatically have access.
The Taylor & Francis eBook platform is a collection of the publisher's academic titles, over 40,000 of which our library provides access to. Subjects covered include the humanities, social sciences, politics, economics and finances, engineering, behavioral sciences, education, and more.

How to access: if you're using the RHEC network, via wired connection or wi-fi, you automatically have access.
SpringerLink is a full-text eBook and journal database covering thousands of scholarly titles in the fields of computer science, life sciences, medicine and public health, engineering, physics, psychology, and more. The library has access to over 36,000 eBook titles in this collection.

How to access: if you're using the RHEC network, via wired connection or wi-fi, you automatically have access. To use this database at home, create an account by clicking the Sign-Up link at the top while connected to the RHEC network. Sign in with your account at home to have full access.
To search all four eBook collections at once, you may use WorldCat Discovery. After submitting your search terms, use the checkboxes on the lefthand side to narrow your results. Under Held By Library, click "Roanoke Higher Education Center Library" to only show material held by our library. Then under Format click on "eBook." Voila! Click the "View eBook" button under any result you're interested in and you will have instant access.
