God's Work In Action: Serving Across The City

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities we had on Saturday, March 24 to serve those in need and spread God's love through events in three different locations. We are continually inspired by God's grace and guidance as we strive to make a difference in the lives of our community.

Our day started with an outreach event at De Zavala Park near our Joy Mission Center. Through the generous donations and unwavering support of our volunteers, we were able to provide essential resources to families in need and invite them to our weekly programs, offering not just sustenance but also hope and compassion.

Across town near the Fifth Ward we were blessed to participate in the Central City Festival at Wheatley High School, where we had the privilege of supporting our students and community members. By coming together at this event, we were able to foster a sense of community, belonging, and empowerment among our youth, instilling in them the belief that they are valued and supported in their educational journey.

At the same time, our Gano Mission Center team accompanied over 130 people (children and their families involved in our programs) on a trip to Gospel Lakes Ranch in New Waverly. Surrounded by the beauty of nature and the serenity of God's creation, we had the opportunity to strengthen bonds, create lasting memories, and deepen our faith as a community as everyone enjoyed a day in the country. They rode horses, rode a zip line, enjoyed paddle boats and fishing, made crafts, had lunch, and heard a message of hope in a beautiful country chapel in the woods. The laughter of children, the smiles of parents, and the sense of togetherness were a testament to the power of community that everyone experienced.

As we reflect on the events of March 24, we give all glory to God for His guidance, provision, and unwavering love. May we continue to be His hands and feet in the world, spreading light and hope wherever we go.

A Blessing Returns to Gano

Every year our summer intern program focuses on training young adult leaders from different states over a nine-week period. College students from several states receive inner-city missions training by serving alongside our staff. Zora Rich from Alabama was one of the nine interns that participated in last summer’s program. She was a dynamo, serving at the Gano Center zealously as she learned how to minister to a low-income community, homeless people, kids, youth, senior adults, all in a community that was racially and culturally different than hers.

Zora loved MCH so much that after the summer was over, she vowed to return with a group of her Christian friends. It came true last month! She recruited a team and they came to serve during their spring break week. All the team helped in our discipleship initiative toward our kids, youth, and college students, and they helped us make a huge difference through outreach with a new Compassion Center partner called 'Neighborhood Impact'. Zora’s return to MCH returned her to hugs, tears, and love. Her story reminds us of the breadth of God's love and the connection we have with one another through Christ. To God be the Glory!!

Celebrating the Resurrection at Joy

During the month of march we celebrated Easter, a time to remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us on that cross more than 2,000 years ago. We had the opportunity to celebrate along the kids by doing an Easter egg hunt, playing bingo, constructing a craft, and enjoying a meal together. Laughter and happiness overflowed Joy center. Our teachers helped the kids gain an in-depth understanding of the significance of this season. They learned that we all need rescuing, and that Jesus gave Himself up to be their rescuer by being sacrificed on the cross, then defeating death by being raised on the third day. He is Risen!!

From Heart to Hand of Compassion

This month the Compassion Center was blessed to serve with Neighborhood Impact, a new TCC partner to distribute food outside of an eight block radius of apartments on the southwest side of town. Through this food distribution, we served over 1000 people and the following week over 100 people showed up to Neighborhood Impact's programs. It was such a blessing to partner with Neighborhood Impact as they minister to their community with the love of Jesus!

Spreading Love One Meal At A Time

The Lanae Foundation has truly exemplified the spirit of love and compassion by initiating a program to donate hot meals every week to our kids and youth programs at both of our centers. Their commitment to supporting our community's most vulnerable members has not only filled stomachs, but also touched the lives of many with their kindness.

The impact of this initiative goes far beyond the provision of a meal. It sends a powerful message of care and solidarity to all those we serve. The simple act of sharing a hot meal has the incredible ability to uplift spirits, foster a sense of belonging, and create lasting memories for our young participants.

The Lanae Foundation's dedication to making a difference is a shining example of what can be achieved when individuals and organizations come together with a shared vision of creating a better world for all. Their support has brought a ray of hope and joy into the lives of those who need it most, and for that, we are truly grateful.

As we continue our mission to serve and empower our community, we are inspired by the generosity of partners like the Lanae Foundation. Their kindness serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is always light to be found in the selfless acts of others.

Meet the Newest Member of the MCH Family!

We are incredibly grateful for the donations made by The Elkins Foundation, Second Baptist Church, No Need Among You, and Sagemont Church for the purchase of a 'new' used box truck. This 2020 Hino 268 truck has a 26' box and a 3,000 lb lift gate, which makes it a game changer for MCH! Not only will it make it possible for us to accept larger donations of goods more frequently, but it will accelerate our unloading time while making it easier on our staff and volunteers. It will also enable us to use it to bless the Compassion Center Network partners as we help them to host outreach events in their communities. To God be the glory!
