The Glenora Community League has diligently been working with the City of Edmonton since
March 2018 to develop a revitalization plan for the Glenora Community League outdoor space.
The project will be well supported by grant-based funding and the League’s established equity.
The current scope of the project includes:
- a new ice rink with poured concrete flooring, outfitted with UV stabilized polyurethane boards
- relocation of basketball courts to newly resurfaced rink
- revitalization of existing tennis courts
- addition of three pickle ball courts
- addition of an active recreation space with soft poured recycled rubber flooring
- calisthenic based fitness stations, benches and tables
- a green space consisting of fruit trees, garden boxes and planters
- a long, integrated “all wheel skate path”
- this will have features that are versatile and integrate seamlessly into surrounding park features
As the revitalization process evolves, continued community engagement and support will
determine the final design and viability of the project.
The primary goal of the Redevelopment Committee is to develop a multi-generational,
inclusive, accessible and alternative outdoor space. The vision is to provide a space that
supports diversity and inclusion, and supports all users in a friendly, safe and aesthetically
appealing environment.

The Glenora Community is a vibrant place that includes a broad demographic spanning generations. The Glenora Community League offers an excellent opportunity for residents to continue to support the vibrancy of our community, and to shape our community so that it remains relevant as a place for future generations. Volunteering is key to ensure this happens. Additionally, a healthy turnover of Board positions is also critical to ensure the Board maintains a fresh perspective, and to prevent volunteer burn-out.
A number of Board positions will be coming up for vacancy at the end of the fiscal year August 31, 2020. Included will be the executive positions of co-treasurer (2). These two positions are structured to cover the roles of Banking and Financial Statements, and are critical for ensuring the community league investments and cash flow from operations are managed to be able to support the infrastructure of the hall and grounds; along with community programs which include, but are not limited to, preschool, indoor playground, mini-sports, soccer, yoga, pickle ball, and social events held throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for individuals in our community with financial acumen to lend their expertise and have a voice on the board.
If you are interested in one of these positions, or would like to know more about opportunities for Board elections in the fall, please come out to one of our meetings to learn more. We meet the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm and would love to see you!

It is an exciting time to be living in the Glenora Community. Over the last number of years, we have seen many younger families move in which has brought about a wonderful sense of energy and enthusiasm. At the same time, many families have seen their households shrink as their children have grown up and moved out. This wonderful variety of community members allows us to explore a diverse range of programs appealing to the different needs. I am very proud that our Board of Directors consists of a broad range of individuals spanning the generations, all bringing a different point of view to what makes Glenora a wonderful community. Of course, we would love to see more people attend our Community Meetings…as this is your community and we need to hear your voice!! The meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month in the Glenora Community Hall…all are welcome!!!

We are a group within the community that share an interest in gardening and get together every third Thursday of the month to discuss topics on gardening. i.e. Composting, Food Forests, Hydroponics, seedlings, etc. We are working with the redevelopment committee to get a gardening space together so that all community members can come and enjoy. We have also done gardening tours in the communities and organize the Front Yards in Bloom Program.
We are currently seeking members to join our group and looking for volunteers to assist with the garden space planning for the community league.

It's Soccer Registration Season!
|
|
Outdoor soccer registration is now open! Games run from the beginning of May to the end of June.
Registration Deadlines:
- (past) Feb 29 for transfers: if you live in Glenora and want to play for another community, or live in another community and want to play with a Glenora team
- March 10 to be placed on a Glenora team
Players registering as of March 11 will be charged an additional $100 late fee and may not be placed on a Glenora team.
If your player wants to be on a specific team or play with a particular friend, please indicate that in your registration form so it shows up on the spreadsheet used to create teams. We do our best to create Glenora teams, and partner with nearby neighbourhoods so combined teams don't have to travel too far.
NOTE: to register, you will need a current community league membership. Visit
efcl.org
You can pay online with a credit card when you register. Cheques (made out to Glenora Community League) will be accepted at the community hall on Sunday, March 8 from 2 pm - 4 pm
Please do NOT pay using cash as we are unable to issue a receipt and the lack of paper is a risk for both you and the community league volunteers. Thank you.
