March 2021 - Newsletter 8
Please save the date for May 8th. Nest will be hosting our 2nd annual walk-a-thon, a 5K, at James River High School. We will also be celebrating Nest Academy turning ONE! Details to follow!

Nest Welcomes Lisa Roessler
As Nest Academy grows, so does its Board of Directors. We welcome Lisa Roessler to the BOD to help guide Nest to fulfill its mission. Lisa comes from a strong business background working for DuPont and Evonik as Global business managers. With her leadership, she will help Nest optimize resources in the community to support the growing programs for special needs young adults. Lisa and her husband Bryan have three sons, two dogs and live in the Midlothian area.

Nest would like to spotlight Bryan Roessler for all of his volunteer work! Bryan has been a pivotal volunteer supporting the growth of the Upcycling feedbag program and several other volunteer programs. Bryan has grown the number of donation feedbag sites to supply recycle bags for the Nest tote project. He is also instrumental in developing and managing the network of volunteers washing feedbags and many other administrative projects necessary for the operation of our non-profit. Nest currently has over 300 feedbags being collected, washed, cut and sewn. With team players like Bryan, Nest becomes a stronger organization that can continue to expand and grow.

Nest will be set up once a month beginning May 1st at South of the James Farmers Market in Bryan Park! Come visit us May 1, June 5, July 10, August 7, September 11 and October 2nd. Buy a cool Nest Upcycled Feed Tote and shop local farms for all your fruits and vegetables!
We Love Our Volunteers!

Our volunteers are coming up with ingenious ways to improve our upcycled tote production process!

Tom has discovered he can clean one bag a minute by using a power washer!

Joe discovered a quick and easy way to dry the bags after they are washed!

We have lots of volunteer opportunities with this project from cutting to sewing. If you sew or quilt, we could use your help with the final step!

We are almost half way to our matching gift goal!! Thanks to our supportive donors we have raised $5,870 towards our gift of $12,500! Remember, once we reach $12,500 we have a donor that is willing to match that for a total of $25,000 to keep our programming growing and thriving! Click here if you would like to donate and help us reach our goal!
