NYCAN Grant Program SUCCESS:
Apprentices at Advance Tool making progress toward satisfying
and good paying careers.
Manufacturing company Advanced Tool has a successful apprentice program to upskill their employees. The company participates in the NYCAN gran, which helps with on-the-job training expenses. Because Advance Tool is a company with less than 50 employees sponsoring apprentices in advanced manufacturing, they can receive up to 50% reimbursement of their apprentice's hourly wage for their on-the-job training for six months to help support their success and knowledge.
"Advanced Tool Inc is a cutting tool manufacturer specializing in engineered carbide end mills, form end mills and micro end mills for Aerospace, Automotive, Medical and Power Generation," says Sherry DePerno, President/CEO of Advanced Tool. "CNC Tool & Cutter Grinding is a very complex skill, it’s difficult to find people with experience. Starting an apprenticeship program shortened a two-year training process down to six months by developing curriculum that includes both classroom and hands-on training. An apprenticeship allows the company to hire someone with no previous experience, and no college education. It puts the employee on an exciting career path with above average earning potential and benefits."

Businesses: New York College Apprenticeship Network (NYCAN) Grant Can Help You Upskill Your Workforce
The Workforce Development Board of Herkimer, Madison & Oneida (WDB/HMO) has partnered with the NYCAN (NY College Apprenticeship Network) grant to reimburse on-the-job training costs for advanced manufacturing companies that have less than 50 employees and a registered apprentice program.
Wages can be reimbursed at 50% up to $25 an hour for six months of on-the-job training (OJT) with minimum paperwork.
The undirected funding provides many benefits for small to medium-sized manufacturing companies and ensures the apprentice is trained in accordance with the company’s standards and procedures.

ONC BOCES has started taking applications for their 2023-2024 LPN training program.
The training starts in late August 2023 and ends in June 2024. Military veterans and unemployed youth (18 to 24) may be eligible for a Rural Healthcare Grant of $2,000.00.
Costs:
Tuition: 2023-2024 $15,500.00 per year**
Application Exam Fee: $100.00 (non-refundable) includes cost of entrance exam (TEAS)
Intent to enroll: $125.00 (non-refundable)
Books: Chrome book with e-books included in tuition
Uniforms: Included with the exception of a stethoscope, white nursing shoes, and a watch with a second's hand
Capping Expense: Included in tuition
Graduation Expense: Included in tuition, with the exception of white uniform for graduation ceremony.
Pre-Licensure NCLEX examination: Included in tuition
